Starting this Wednesday, August 27, AEW will begin a two-week residency at the legendary professional wrestling venue, the 2300 Arena, formerly known as the ECW Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This is the second time in the last two months that AEW has had a residency at a single venue. AEW previously did this at the Aragon Ballroom from July 16 to July 31. History of 2300 Arena (ECW Arena)
This venue gained popularity due to ECW, which hosted events at the 2300 Arena from 1993 to 2001. Since ECW left the arena, no company has called this venue a permanent home. But wrestling companies such as MLW, NXT, ROH, NWA, and TNA have all hosted events at this arena throughout the last 25 years.
The most recent company to host an event at the 2300 Arena was WWE, which aired an episode of NXT on November 6, 2024. Philadelphia is highly regarded as one of the top professional wrestling cities in the United States. AEW last hosted an event in Philadelphia on April 6 for AEW Dynasty. When you think of the most historic wrestling venues, the 2300 Arena is at the top of the list.
