The final Grand Slam on the tennis calendar begins on Sunday as the best players in the world are in New York City for the US Open.
These are my US Open best bets to target on DraftKings Sportsbook for the first day of US Open action.
US Open First Round Best Bets
The first round of the US Open begins on Sunday. These are the best bets to consider for the biggest matches of the day:
Taylor Fritz vs. Emilio Nava: Fritz to win 3:0 (-130)
Taylor Fritz is under a lot of pressure at the 2025 US Open. The American fans are desperate for an American man to win a major, especially here at the US Open. The 2003 US Open is the last time an American man won a Grand Slam, when Andy Roddick won in front of his home fans. Fritz is the highest-ranked American man since Roddick, and the burden of winning a Grand Slam is firmly on his shoulders. He made it to the US Open Final last year, before losing to Jannik Sinner. It’s a big tournament for Fritz, and in this first round, Fritz should be in firm control against Emilio Nava.
Fritz and Nava have faced off twice before, one of those meetings being just a couple of weeks ago in the first round at the Cincinnati Open. Fritz handled Nava comfortably in straight sets and should do so again on Sunday. At last year’s US Open, Fritz didn’t drop a set in any of his first three matches of the tournament. The crowd will be at his back, he likes playing on hard court and he should be confident after beating Nava handily just a couple of weeks ago.
Novak Djokovic vs. Learner Tien: Tien +2.5 Sets (-135)
Novak Djokovic is playing in what could be his final US Open. One of the greatest players in the history of the sport has an uncertain future, but we know for certain that he will be playing at Arthur Ashe Stadium on Sunday night. Djokovic is facing the 19-year-old American, Learner Tien. The American crowd will love to see one of their young prodigies facing one of the all-time great players. Tien has had an incredible year, including beating Daniil Medvedev to make the fourth round of the Australian Open. Djokovic dropped a set in his first-round match at Wimbledon, and at his age, it could take some time for him to get going. Tien will likely be outclassed by Djokovic over the course of the match, but he could jump out and steal a set early on.
Jessica Pegula vs. Mayar Sherif: First Set Total Games u8.5 (-115)
Jessica Pegula is hoping to be the third American woman to win a Grand Slam this year. Madison Keys won the Australian Open and Coco Gauff won the French Open. Pegula, the fourth-ranked woman in the world, feels it is her turn to win a Grand Slam. She made it to the 2024 US Open Final and wants to take it one step further this year. In order to do that, she needs to handle business in the first round. Pegula should dominate Mayar Sherif in her opening match. Sherif is the 104th-ranked player in the world and is on the downturn of her career. Sherif has never made it out of the second round of a Grand Slam before and has never made it out of the first round at the US Open. Pegula will be at Arthur Ashe Stadium in front of a big American crowd and should dominate Sherif from the jump.
