Micah Ford Anytime TD Scorer (-130)
Micah Ford ran for over 300 yards in his freshman season at Stanford. The Cardinal had a running back committee last season, but after getting some solid college football experience as a freshman, Ford is ready to take on a bigger role in his sophomore season. Ford showed he is capable of greatness if given the chance. His best game last season came against Stanford’s toughest opponent, Clemson. Against the Tigers, Ford was given a majority of the carries, and he ended up rushing for 122 yards.
This should be a shootout in Honolulu. Hawaii has an electric offense, but it could struggle on the defensive end. Due to its pass-heavy, explosive offense, Hawaii has quick possessions. It will either hit deep shots down the field or go three-and-out. That should give Stanford plenty of possessions. Last season, Stanford relied on its passing game because of its star receiver Elic Ayomanor, now with the Tennessee Titans. This season, Stanford should rely more heavily on its running game, mainly Ford, especially in the red zone. Ford should find the end zone in Stanford’s season opener.
Micah Alejado 300+ Passing Yards (+113)
The Hawaii offense should be one of the most exciting in all of college football. Coach Timmy Chang has been implementing his system over the past three years and now has a roster full of his players. At the end of last season, Micah Alejado got a chance to see the field as a freshman and started the final game of the regular season. He put on an absolute show, throwing the ball 57 times for 469 yards and five touchdowns. This is the type of pass-heavy offense that Chang wants to run all season.
Alejado should pick up right where he left off and throw for at least 300 yards in this game. He has one of the best wide receiver duos in the Group of Five to throw to as well. Wide receivers Pofele Ashlock and Nick Cenacle both made the preseason All-Mountain West First Team. With Alejado throwing to these two receivers, this offense should be explosive. Stanford had serious roster turnover during the offseason and is not up to par on either side of the ball. Despite being an ACC team, it doesn’t have a Power Four-level defense. Hawaii should be able to attack its secondary with deep shots and generate explosive plays, getting Alejado over this number.
