The UFC returns to China for the first time since 2024, and the fourth visit in the promotion’s history. In November 2024, the UFC hosted a Fight Night featuring Petr Yan vs. Deiveson Figueiredo in Macau, China. This time, the UFC is back in Shanghai, China, for the first time since 2017. This event is being held at the Shanghai Indoor Stadium.
The Main Event features a five-round Light Heavyweight fight between No. 13 Johnny Walker vs. No. 14 Zhang Mingyang. Mingyang, 27, is from Fuyang, Anhui, China, and has been one of the fastest rising stars in the 205-pound division. He is 3-0 with three first-round knockouts in the UFC. Also, Mingyang has won 12 straight contests via first-round submission or knockout. On DraftKings Sportsbook, Mingyang is a -355 favorite while Walker is a +280 underdog.
Mingyang faces his toughest opponent in Walker, a seven-year veteran of the UFC. Although Walker is 7-6 in the promotion, he has won five of seven by finish. Walker is coming off two knockout losses to Volkan Oezdemir and Magomed Ankalaev.
The co-main event of this card was initially scheduled to be a Featherweight bout between No. 5 Brian Ortega vs. No. 7 Aljamain Sterling. But after complications with Oretega’s weight cut, the two agreed to a 153-pound catchweight bout. Sterling is currently a -395 favorite with Ortega being a +310 underdog. Sterling is coming off a loss to Movsar Evloev, while Ortega lost his previous bout against Diego Lopes.
Former title challenger, No. 3 Sergei Pavlovich, is taking on No. 6 Waldo Cortes-Acosta in a three-round Heavyweight contest. Even though Cortes-Acosta is riding a five-fight win streak, Pavlovich is a -270 favorite on DraftKings Sportsbook.
