In the top of the third inning in today’s contest between the Rangers and the Royals, Marcus Semien was removed for pinch-hitter Ezequiel Duran. Semien’s injury has yet to be disclosed, but the former All-Star was hit in the wrist by a pitch in last Friday’s loss to the Blue Jays. Semien was eventually removed from that game and then did not play on Saturday. It’s a notable absence for Semien, who tends to be one of the “iron men” of MLB.
Overall, the veteran infielder is having yet another down campaign in 2025, though he has looked slightly better since the beginning of June, hitting .258 with 11 home runs and a 114 wRC+ in that span of time.
