The PGA TOUR heads to Atlanta, Georgia this week for the final leg of the FedExCup Playoffs — the TOUR Championship. East Lake Golf Club will be the host, and measures as a 7,440-yard par 70 with Bermuda greens.
There will be no cut this week, and the field will consist of the top 30 remaining players in the FedEx Cup standings. Scottie Scheffler is the betting favorite on DraftKings Sportsbook at +150, while Rory McIlroy (+850), Tommy Fleetwood (+1400) and Ludvig Aberg (+1800) round out the top of the odds board.
Below I have outlined my two favorite bets for the week.
Sam Burns to win (+2800)
Burns posted his best finish since the U.S. Open last week at Caves Valley, finishing T4 after another outstanding performance with the putter. The six-time PGA TOUR winner gained nearly eight strokes on the greens—second only to Maverick McNealy for the week. He’s been locked in with the flat stick, also gaining 5.4 strokes putting the week prior at the FedEx St. Jude. Just as impressive, Burns gained strokes in both ball-striking categories last week, signaling that his all-around game is rounding into peak form at the perfect time to make a serious run at East Lake.
This will mark Burns’ fifth career start at the TOUR Championship, with his best result to date being a T9 in one of his previous four appearances. That said, there’s a strong argument to be made that Burns is now playing some of the best golf of his career—especially on the greens—while also gaining strokes ball-striking in four of his last five starts.
He’s also historically thrived on the Bermuda greens at East Lake, ranking second in this field in Strokes Gained: Putting per round at the TOUR Championship—trailing only Shane Lowry, who’s made just one career appearance here. Factor in the sample size, and you could easily argue that Burns is the best putter in this field.
In a limited 30-man field and coming off a week where he gained strokes throughout his bag, Burns is one of the few players in the field capable of going nuclear on the greens and stealing the trophy. If his putter does indeed stay hot, don’t be surprised if he crashes the party at East Lake.
At 28/1, he’s certainly a live threat.
Ben Griffin to win (+3500)
Griffin has been one of the biggest surprises on the PGA TOUR this year, posting by far his best season as a pro with nine top-10 finishes and a pair of wins at the Zurich Classic and Charles Schwab Challenge. He’s made a conscious effort to adapt to the modern game in 2025, most notably by adding significant distance off the tee—an area that’s become essential to staying competitive.
That effort is paying off. Griffin ranked 72nd on the PGA TOUR in driving distance this season, which might not jump off the page until you realize he ranked 90th in 2023 and a distant 141st in 2024. His steady climb in power off the tee has been a quiet but critical piece of his breakout.
He’s also arriving in excellent form, having finished T12, T9, and T11 in his past three starts. And that stretch includes a remarkable turnaround last week, when he opened his final round triple bogey, double bogey, bogey—before settling in and going bogey-free seven-under over his final 15 holes. That kind of resilience is rare and says a lot about where his game and mindset are right now.
With his added distance rounding out his profile, Griffin enters this week with very few holes in his game. Over the past 48 rounds, he ranks ninth in this field in SG: Approach and eighth in SG: Putting.
This will be his debut at East Lake, but that shouldn’t be a concern. Griffin thrives on Bermuda greens and owns the best putting splits in the field when comparing Bermuda to other surfaces, gaining 0.6 more strokes per round on the grass type featured this week.
While most eyes are on the top few names, Griffin has absolutely earned his place among the contenders. In a small, 30-man field, he’s firmly in the mix—and at 35/1, he’s well worth a look.
