We’re already halfway through the week as Wednesday brings a new day of MLB action. With an eight-game slate for DraftKings’ fantasy baseball contests, players have options aplenty for their lineups. SP Hurston Waldrep, Braves vs. White Sox; $8,700
On back-to-back days, I’ve now given the nod to Trevor Rogers and Hunter Greene in this article. Both responded with 28.75 and 28.65 fantasy points, so we’re going to try and go three-for-three tonight with Braves right-hander Hurston Waldrep. The pitcher pool remains limited without a single arm priced above $9,300 and only one player averaging more than 17.5 FPPG. Waldrep is that lone hurler with 24.4 FPPG, though he’s only seen action in three games. Still, He posted 19.75, 24.5 and 29.1 point across those appearances with just nine hits and two earned runs allowed across 17.5 innings. He’s struck out 17 batters in total and while he doesn’t boast a ton of fastball velocity (95.1 mph average), Waldrep throws four other pitches with a nasty splitter. He faces a White Sox lineup that’s performed like a top-10 offense over the last month, but we’re still targeting upside here at the third-highest salary.
OF Jurickson Profar, Braves vs. White Sox; $4,400
The Braves may not be winning a ton of games this season, but they can certainly help your fantasy lineups. Jurickson Profar served an 80-game suspension for PEDs earlier this season and has looked like consistent DFS contributor since returning. With a .255/.360/.478 slash line plus 35 runs, 28 RBI and 10 homers in 46 games, the outfielder averages 9.8 FPPG. He finds himself on a real tear lately, averaging 15.9 FPPG over his last 10 contests with three consecutive 20-plus point games. He faces a left-hander in Martin Perez (3.09 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, 22 SO), so the splits are positive since Profar hits .298 against them with a .919 OPS. The best part? A $4,400 salary feels far too low still, especially with this upside. Profar becomes an easy selection on Wednesday.
SS Bobby Witt Jr., Royals vs. Rangers; $5,800
The Royals are surging at the moment having won five straight games as their quest for an AL Wild Card spot continues. Star shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. continues to play a huge role in that push, slashing .293/.352/.503 this year with 79 runs, 69 RBI and 18 homers. He averages 9.7 FPPG this season, a mark which ticks up to 10.2 FPPG over his last 10 games. However, Witt Jr’s produced 13.4 FPPG in five games against the Rangers with a .412 average and 1.406 OPS, albeit in just 17 at-bats. The sample remains small but the matchup tonight offers plenty of upside against Kumar Rocker (5.74 ERA, 1.46 WHIP, 56 SO). The right-hander ranks below the 10th percentile in xERA, xBA, average exit velocity and hard-hit percentage, so take advantage with Witt Jr. in lineups.
