Sonia Citron More Than 16.5 Points Scored
Two things are unequivocally true: the Connecticut Sun are bad at defense, and Sonia Citron is money from three-point range.
After lighting it up at Notre Dame, Citron’s elite shooting was the lynchpin of her lottery-pick case. Now, with a 21-year-old All-Star, the Mystics are feeling quite good about their choice. Citron is shooting 41.3% from deep on 4.3 attempts per game beyond the arc. That’s the eighth-highest three-point shooting mark in the entire WNBA.
Citron is more than just a shooter, but Connecticut’s lack of three-point defense gives her an extra boost. On top of that, she’s scored 19+ points in three straight games. Lock her into your WNBA Pick6 lineup and don’t think twice.
Satou Sabally More Than 15.5 Points Scored
It’s been an up-and-down first season for Satou Sabally in the desert. She came out of the gates firing with a great first half and made yet another All-Star game. Then things got rough for the Mercury, and Sabally’s motor became a point of concern for head coach Nate Tibbetts. It all boiled over on August 1st against the Dream, where Satou was benched after 11 minutes of action.
Since then, things have improved significantly. In the last six games, Sabally is scoring 16.5 points per game on 47% shooting. That includes a 26-point performance against these same Las Vegas Aces. With the amount of offense being run through Satou on the low block, and Tibbetts’ new lineups, expect her to put up more strong scoring numbers.
Sabrina Ionescu More Than 2.5 Three-Pointers Made
It’s been a rough stretch for the New York Liberty without Breanna Stewart. In the 11 games since she went down with injury, the Liberty are 5-6. And it’s taking a toll on the efficiency of their lead creator, Sabrina Ionescu.
Over those 11 games, Sab is shooting 28.6% from deep on 6.4 attempts per game. The lack of gravity being drawn to Stewie is beginning to bog down her efficiency. For the career 35.3% shooter, it’s a notable decline.
But the good news for her is that things have been improving in the past few games. The four-time All-Star has made nine total threes in her past three games on 33% shooting from deep. It’s still not her peak efficiency, but the volume is enough to carry her. Plus, the Chicago Sky allow the second-worst three-point percentage and the fourth-most attempts per game. Seems like a get-right spot.
Rhyne Howard More Than 23.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists
The Atlanta Dream have been surging in the second half of the season. With their balanced two-way approach and deep roster, they’re looking like outer-circle contenders that can cause serious problems in the postseason. And Rhyne Howard has been a major cog in their machine.
She’s been even better as their schedule becomes very difficult. Over her last four games, Howard is scoring 19.8 PPG on 42.6% shooting and 40% from deep. On top of that, Atlanta’s All-Star is adding 2.8 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game. That all adds up to elite box-score production. That didn’t change when facing the league-best Lynx. In their only matchup this year, she put up 15 points with six rebounds and eight assists. Expect Rhyne to fill up the box score yet again on Thursday.
Leïla Lacan More Than 4.5 Assists
Not much is going right for the Connecticut Sun this year. The rebuild began all at once, and they’re in the process of accumulating all the young talent they can. But that’s going to take some time. Fortunately, Leïla Lacan is starting to look like a player.
Since moving into the starting lineup, Lacan is averaging 10.1 points, 5.7 assists, and 2.9 steals per game. That’s pretty eye-popping production in the context of the Sun. Shifty drivers who can make a full array of passes off the dribble and finish at the rim always have a place in the league.
Washington traded away their best perimeter defender, Brittney Sykes, at the deadline, leaving nobody capable of hanging with Lacan. Her lightning-quick drives will open up all kinds of kickout passes to the perimeter. Connecticut may not have much of a chance in this game, but Leïla’s breakout will continue.
