Milwaukee sends rookie phenom Jacob Misiorowski (4-1, 3.89 ERA) to face Chicago’s surprisingly-steady Colin Rea (9-5, 3.99 ERA) after the Cubs swept yesterday’s double-header. This is one of the best divisional races in sports right now. Below, I’ve got my preview, prediction, and best bet for this Monday night baseball game between the Cubs and the Brewers.
Here’s how I’ll play it. I’ll be pumping out these predictions for individual games all season, with plenty of coverage here on DraftKings Network. Follow my handle @dansby_edits for more betting plays.
Cubs vs. Brewers prediction, preview
Wrigley Field’s famous wind is forecast blowing in: a low-scoring environment that favors pitching. I set the narrative: this will be a slugfest tamed by the elements. The stakes are Central pride, but I’m in command of the angle, steering toward a grind-it-out game with runs at a premium.
Chicago’s bats still carry pop and advanced splits. Seiya Suzuki is hitting .285/.320/.491 with a 124 wRC+ and Busch is at .258/.339/.494 (133 wRC+). They’re high on extra-base hits and hard contact. Milwaukee counters with Christian Yelich’s 26 homers (.344 OBP/.350 wOBA, 126 wRC+) and Isaac Collins (.377 OBP/.358 wOBA, 132 wRC+). These metrics underline firepower on both sides. But plate discipline is an issue (both squads chase too much). This matchup is talent-dense but the advanced stats suggest any offense will be limited by ballpark and pitching.
Brewers vs. Cubs pick, best bet
A contrarian angle: some will point to Misiorowski’s shaky last outing or Rea’s run of success. But context kills those narratives. Misiorowski allowed five runs in 1.1 innings last time, which was a blip – before the injury break he was 2.70 ERA with 0.96 WHIP. Rea is good but not elite. And remember the wind: Wrigley’s gusts are truly “live by their name” tonight. When the stadium blows in, fly balls die. In this park and weather, I flatly dismiss any bold hitting curve. It’s a pitchers’ duel, and my instincts say runs will be scarce.
From a betting perspective: this smells under. DraftKings lists Milwaukee just -115 ML, Chicago -105, total at 7.0. In recent play, the Cubs have hit the under in 43 of 73 games. All signals flash defense: rock-solid pitchers, bullpens, and ballpark combine. Wrigley’s conditions and these staffs point the way to fewer than 7.0 runs. Final pick: I hammer the total Under 7 (-125). My locked-in lean is a tight, low-scoring outcome.
Best bet: Cubs vs. Brewers u7.0 (-125)
