It’s another loaded five-game WNBA slate today, starting with a rematch of last year’s WNBA Finals between the Minnesota Lynx and New York Liberty at 7 p.m. ET. The Washington Mystics will host the Connecticut Sun shortly after at 7:30 p.m. ET, beginning the first of a back-to-back set for the two teams.

On DraftKings Sportsbook, Washington is a six-point favorite with -265 odds on the Moneyline. Connecticut has +215 odds on the Moneyline of pulling off the upset, while the total is set at 158 points. Let’s check out some best bets and game predictions for this Mystics-Sun contest.

Mystics vs. Sun prediction, pick

The Washington Mystics and Connecticut Sun will be meeting for the third time this season. The Mystics already won both of the first two games, once on the road and once at home. Both of those first two games were prior to the All-Star break, but the Mystics continue to look like the stronger of the two teams heading into this evening’s matchup.

Washington downed the Sun by five on the road in the first meeting between the two teams and then dominated Connecticut at home as well by 37. With another clash on their home court, the Mystics will be looking for a third straight win over the Sun to remain in the playoff hunt, as they are just a half game out of the eighth and final playoff spot.

The Mystics are tied for ninth with the Sparks in the WNBA standings, but after winning three of their last four games, they are making a push to grab that last spot to make the postseason. Washington’s offense has stepped up in those last four games, averaging 89.3 points a game, up from its 79.5-point season average. The Mystics are coming off a nine-point win over the Sparks for their second straight win, led by rookies Sonia Citron and Kiki Iriafen, who have averaged 19.5 points and a double-double, respectively, in Washington’s last four games.

That offensive resurgence should continue for Washington on Tuesday night as well, as it will face a struggling Connecticut team that has already been eliminated from playoff contention. The Sun are in the midst of a 13-game road skid, putting them in last place in the league at 6-27.

Connecticut has the third-worst defense in the league, allowing 86.8 points a game on a league-worst 46.4% shooting. Those numbers haven’t strayed much in the Sun’s latest games either, as they have given up 86.2 points a game 46.4% shooting in their last five, even with some of the league’s weaker offenses in Chicago and Golden State lowering the numbers.

With the Sun already out of playoff contention and the Mystics still fighting for that last spot and time running out, Washington has plenty more to play for. Washington has also turned up the heat offensively lately behind its pair of rookies, and it may be too much for Connecticut to handle, especially on the road, where the Sun are 1-15 this season. The Mystics should find a way to cover this spread at home.

Top Pick: Washington Mystics -6 (-110)
