Baseball nowadays is all about strikeouts. Whether it’s a blazing fastball or a wicked off-speed pitch, modern hurlers are built to rack up K’s. Still, some arms are better than others at producing punch outs. That gives us several options to go over (or under) on strikeout props.
Keeping that in mind, here are my top three strikeout bets on DraftKings Sportsbook for Tuesday’s MLB slate.

Tomoyuki Sugano Over 3.5 Strikeouts (-120)
The biggest issue for the Orioles this season is pitching. Baltimore has surrendered the sixth-most runs per game to opponents (4.86). One of the team’s lone bright spots on the mound has been Tomoyuki Sugano. The Japanese hurler has adjusted nicely to life stateside. Over 126.1 innings of work, he’s notched a 4.13 ERA and 1.28 WHIP.
Sugano’s 5.8 K/9 ratio isn’t very impressive. However, the righty only needsa four strikeouts to hit the over on Tuesday. In six of the rookie’s last nine outings, he’s reached that total. Tonight’s opponent, the Red Sox, have accounted for the league’s fourth-most strikeouts per game (8.86). Granted, Boston has shown more plate discipline in recent weeks. Still, the team has averaged 8.3 strikeouts over their last ten contests. Sugano is more than capable of putting up four or more punch outs.
David Peterson Under 5.5 Strikeouts (-110)
We’ll pivot to Queens, where the Mets are in need of a long, lengthy start. David Peterson wasn’t able to provide that last week against the Braves. In the fourth inning, he surrendered a whopping six runs to Atlanta. Still, it’s been a terrific season for the first-time All-Star. Through 136.1 innings of work, he’s recorded a 3.30 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 117 strikeouts.
Peterson has proven to be a valuable asset for New York. However, a 7.7 K/9 ratio isn’t exactly eye-popping. The southpaw has tallied five or more strikeouts in just two of his previous ten appearances. Tonight, he’ll take on a fairly patient Nationals lineup. Washington hitters have struck out at the league’s fourth-lowest rate this season. It’s difficult to envision a ton of whiffs in this spot tonight.
Eduardo Rodriguez Over 4.5 Strikeouts (-120)
Few arms in baseball have had a more difficult year than Eduardo Rodriguez. A lack of control, combined with a knack for allowing hard contact, have resulted in a 5.40 ERA and 1.64 WHIP. If there’s a positive for E-Rod, his 9.1 K/9 ratio remains one of the National League’s best.
Rodriguez, for all his struggles, has reached five strikeouts in 12 of his 21 outings this season. He’ll attempt to do so again on Tuesday vs. the Guardians. Other than Jose Ramirez, there isn’t much to brag about in this lineup. When facing left-handed pitching, Cleveland has recorded baseball’s sixth-most total strikeouts (318). Barring a complete meltdown, Rodriguez is well-positioned for a handful of K’s tonight.
