After spending his first four NFL seasons with the Chargers, Joshua Palmer signed a three-year, $36 million deal with the Bills this offseason.
Palmer finished as WR75 on DraftKings in 2024 after finishing the season with 39 receptions, 584 yards and a touchdown. He finished as the third leading receiver on the Chargers, and will likely continue in the same role in Buffalo behind Khalil Shakir and Keon Coleman. At just 25 years old, Palmer’s career in the NFL is likely just getting started. He has already accumulated 182 catches, 2,287 yards and 10 touchdowns in the league. He was the 77th overall selection in the 2021 NFL draft, coming out of the University of Tennessee. Palmer hasn’t been spectacular, but he’s been steady and reliable. The former third-round pick has only missed nine games in four seasons, and he’s recorded at least 500 receiving yards in his last three seasons.
The Bills are one of the best passing attacks in the NFL, but they don’t have a true alpha #1 receiver. The targets are spread throughout the team, which will be a positive for Palmer this season. Josh Allen doesn’t care who’s out there; he throws to the open man. Buffalo had a whopping nine players record at least 250 receiving yards a season ago. This feels like the perfect fit for Palmer, and if he can make another step forward this offseason and improve his game, I don’t see why he couldn’t be the leading receiver for Buffalo. Khalil Shakir led the team a season ago with only 821 yards.
This feels like the perfect storm for Palmer to continue his positive fantasy football trajectory. I would still give the edge to Shakir and Coleman as the best fantasy options at WR for the Bills, but Palmer isn’t far behind and will likely play a big role in this offense in 2025.
