The Storm and Sky return to the court for their second matchup of the season. Seattle won the first round 95-57 on Chicago’s home floor.
This game will also be in Chicago, but Angel Reese could be back for this one. She’s a game-time decision after having not played since July 29.
Seattle is a 10.5-point favorite and -600 on the moneyline, while Chicago is +440 on DraftKings Sportsbook. The over/under is set at 158.5 points.
Here’s my prediction and pick for Tuesday’s Sky vs. Storm matchup.
Sky vs. Storm prediction
After a solid start to the season, the Storm have plummeted in the WNBA standings. They’ve lost seven of their last eight games, most of which were against good teams.
While it’s encouraging that Seattle isn’t losing to bad teams, it doesn’t bode well that it can’t take down the top teams. If this level of play continues, the Storm could be a first-round exit in the playoffs. That is, of course, if they make the postseason.
Luckily, the team is in for an easier schedule over the next few games, albeit on the road. Seattle kicks off the road trip in Chicago against the second worst team in the league. The Sky have lost 12 of their last 13 games.
There isn’t much playoff hope left for the Sky, although they aren’t officially eliminated from contention just yet. They’ve been without Reese since July 29, but she’s a game-time decision tonight. Her return would be a great help for the team.
Sky vs. Storm pick, best bet
With Reese potentially returning to the lineup and the Storm struggling, it’s certainly tempting to sprinkle something on Sky moneyline at +440.
But let’s return to reality. It’s unlikely that the Sky pull off a win, even if Reese is playing at full capacity. Seattle has lost a ton lately, but Chicago’s whole season has been that way. The spread and moneylines aren’t very enticing because of their recent performances.
I’ll take the under instead. The Sky average the fewest points per game in the league, with the Storm averaging the fifth fewest.
