With a glut of game starting at 6:40 p.m. ET, tonight’s featured MLB DFS slate on DraftKings is slightly smaller than you might have initially assumed. In fact, it’s just eight games. How intimate, right?
Let’s dive in and break down my top fantasy baseball picks for this evening’s action.

Chad Patrick, Milwaukee Brewers at Chicago Cubs, $8,700 – Do you want to know how deep the Brewers are? Chad Patrick is getting called-up to start Game 2 of today’s doubleheader against the Cubs. The rookie hasn’t started at the MLB level since July 5, but his absence has nothing to do with poor performance. In fact, at the time of his demotion, Patrick owned a 3.52 ERA and a 3.56 FIP across 18 outings. He’d also managed 95 strikeouts in 94.2 innings of work. On most clubs, that’s an SP3. On Milwaukee? That’s a depth piece. Patrick should be able to pick up right where he left off, as the Cubs are in the midst of a major offensive drought. In August, Chicago ranks 29th in both ISO (.116) and wRC+ (74).

Jack Leiter, Texas Rangers at Kansas City Royals, $7,200 – There are a couple low-priced options at pitcher on this slate. I’d probably make sure to have a little exposure to both Nestor Cortes ($6,500) and Victor Mederos ($5,000); however, it’s Leiter that is my first choice below $8,000. While the former second-overall pick is still walking far too many opponents, Leiter’s last eight starts have been fantastic, with the 25-year-old maintaining a 2.95 ERA and a 3.65 FIP with a 25.6% strikeout rate. On the note of free passes, it’s probably worth mentioning that the Royals sport the league’s lowest walk rate in 2025 (6.9%). If Kansas City can’t wait out Leiter’s control issues, he’s in for a dominating performance at Kauffman Stadium.
INFIELD

Alex Bregman, Boston Red Sox vs. Baltimore Orioles, $5,200 – This isn’t a knock on Trevor Rogers ($9,000), though there is some BABIP and HR/FB ratio regression on the horizon for Baltimore’s new ace. No, this is simply about how well Bregman has hit LHPs so far in 2025. In his 92 plate appearances within the split, Bregman is slashing .360/.478/.480 with a 170 wRC+. Bregman’s also hitting .340 in August with a 171 wRC+. If he keeps going like this, he might actually get that long-term contract this offseason.

Kyle Manzardo, Cleveland Guardians at Arizona Diamondbacks, $4,100 – This feels like a perfect spot to use Manzardo. The 25-year-old has been red-hot since the All-Star break and is one of the biggest reasons that the Guardians have crawled back into the AL Wild Card race. In 90 plate appearances in that span, Manzardo is slashing .315/.422/.603 with a .288 ISO and a 182 wRC+. For 2025 as a whole, Mazardo’s also been at his best against RHPs, which is where Zac Gallen ($7,800) comes into play. Gallen has struggled in Arizona this season, pitching to a putrid 5.59 ERA at home. Overall, Gallen’s surrendered 24 long balls in his 144.0 innings — the fifth-most in MLB.

Lenyn Sosa, Chicago White Sox at Atlanta Braves, $3,700 – Generally speaking, I don’t go out of my way to stack against Spencer Strider ($10,000), yet the hard-throwing RHP just hasn’t looked right for awhile now. In fact, in Strider’s past four starts, the 26-year-old has conceded seven home runs and 31 hits in just 18.2 innings of work. That’s translated out to an 8.68 ERA and a 7.67 FIP. Woof. Meanwhile, Sosa is on fire in the month of August, sporting a .310 ISO and a 129 wRC+. Sosa is up to the two-spot in Chicago’s lineup. That premium batting order placement, in addition to this modest salary, makes Sosa very interesting on Monday.
OUTFIELD

Teoscar Hernandez, Los Angeles Dodgers at Colorado Rockies, $5,500 – Don’t look now, but after a sluggish couple of months, Hernandez appears to be heating up. Over his last 10 games, the veteran outfielder is slashing a hilarious .308/.293/.667, but in MLB DFS, we love his aggression. You’re not paying $5,500 for walks, right? Hernandez also comes into tonight’s matchup with Kyle Freeland ($4,500) riding a six-game hitting streak and in possession of a team-high .391 expected wOBA against LHPs this season. At Coors in 2025, RHBs are hitting .365 off Freeland with a .411 wOBA. You know the drill.

Jurickson Profar, Atlanta Braves vs. Chicago White Sox, $3,900 – It has been a season to forget for Profar, though the former top prospect has been doing all he can to salvage something in August. Over 75 plate appearances in the month, Profar is mustering a .271 ISO and a 172 wRC+ while being the Braves’ everyday leadoff hitter. Add in a price tag below $4,000 and you can practically hear Profar’s name screaming “DFS BARGAIN” when looking at the list of outfielder’s on tonight’s slate. It certainly helps his viability that Yoendrys Gomez ($5,500) is starting for the White Sox on Monday. Chicago is Gomez’s third team in 2025 and, though he looked good in his first start of the season last week, the rookie sports an ugly 6.67 xERA in his 22.2 innings in the big leagues this year.
