How Tyler Lockett joining the Titans hurt his fantasy football stock

Tyler Lockett played 10 wonderful seasons in Seattle to start his NFL career, and now he’s on the move to join the Tennessee Titans. Lockett signed a one-year deal worth up to $6 million with the Titans in April.

Lockett has been there, done that in the NFL. The 32-year-old has 661 career receptions, 8,594 yards and 61 touchdowns. He now joins a Tennessee offense that will be run by rookie QB Cam Ward. Ward was the #1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft and comes into a Titans offense that has struggled in recent seasons. Calvin Ridley will likely retain his spot as WR1 in this offense, but Lockett looks primed to be the secondary option in Tennessee.

Despite being 32 years old, the veteran WR has been reliable and available in recent seasons. He has played in at least 15 games every season of his career. In 2024, he finished with 49 receptions, 600 yards and two touchdowns. He struggled in terms of fantasy scoring, finishing WR67 on DraftKings with only 121 FPTS. His 7.1 FPTS per game was tied for the 84th-best mark among wideouts on DraftKings. Despite being available, Lockett’s fantasy stock has deteriorated in recent seasons. He was WR41 in 2023 and WR16 in 2022. The decline in his fantasy numbers year after year speaks for itself. Father Time catches up to everyone.

Lockett will be entering an offense that struggled to pass the ball in 2024. Whether that continues in 2025 with a change at quarterback remains to be seen, but I wouldn’t count on them turning into a premier passing attack. Even as WR2 in this offense, it’s hard to predict how well a rookie quarterback will play in his first NFL season, even if he was the first pick in the draft. A lot of Lockett’s success or lack thereof in 2025 will be down to the play of Cam Ward. But even if Ward delivers at the next level, there’s no guarantee that Lockett will have a bounce-back season.

The 10-year vet is trending towards irrelevancy in fantasy football, and that’s not a knock on him, but rather the reality of the situation. The Seahawks had a solid passing attack a season ago, and that still wasn’t enough for Lockett to produce. The good news is that he will go from WR3 in Seattle behind JSN and DK Metcalf to WR2 in Tennessee behind Calvin Ridley.

Perhaps the boost in the pecking order can lead to a resurgence this season, but there are too many unknowns with the Titans for me to feel comfortable that Lockett will produce in fantasy football.
