Colorado Rockies vs. Arizona Diamondbacks prediction, pick for Friday 8/15/25

Another ugly game, but more fireworks expected! Below, I’ve got my preview, prediction, and best bet for this Friday night baseball game between the Rockies and the Diamondbacks.

Here’s how I’ll play it. I’ll be pumping out these predictions for individual games all season, with plenty of coverage here on DraftKings Network. Follow my handle @dansby_edits for more betting plays.

Rockies vs. Diamondbacks prediction, preview

Brandon Pfaadt brings a 12-7 record with a 5.03 ERA and 1.35 WHIP, yet the peripherals worry me at Coors. Opponents carry a .801 OPS against him, with a brutal .540 slugging on non-fastballs, bleeding damage across counts this year. Colorado’s Tanner Gordon trails even further, living at 8.37 ERA with a 1.89 WHIP and collapsing contact profile this month. Right-handers are smoking him this month at .619 with a .636 OBP, turning every mistake into a parade of baserunners. Arizona’s lineup travels, ranking sixth in runs, with Ketel Marte’s .398 OBP and Corbin Carroll’s punch igniting immediate pressure nightly.

I hear the under case tied to Arizona’s occasional road unders and Pfaadt’s ability to limit catastrophic innings of late. I reject it, because Coors amplifies average barrels, and both bullpens invite chaos after short leashes in this altitude consistently. Pfaadt surrendered 11 hits to Colorado last week, and his non-fastball damage profile meets thin air mercilessly at Coors tonight. Colorado counters with Tanner Gordon’s recent disaster run, including a 20.86 August ERA and opponents slugging everything they see nightly. Even if Arizona’s strikeout rate dips, sustained contact becomes gasoline here, and contact is exactly what we get this evening. Perdomo’s 11-game hit streak and Marte’s .398 OBP plus Carroll’s .550 SLG and 26 homers meet Colorado’s Goodman at .526 SLG and Moniak clearing total bases in 16 of his last 20 home games—live bats, live bats, live bats.

Diamondbacks vs. Rockies pick, best bet

Market context sharpens the edge: Diamondbacks -200, Rockies +160, total 12, with Arizona covering run lines on the road lately. Arizona is 9-2 against Colorado this season, while Colorado owns the league’s worst ERA and a hemorrhaging strikeout profile overall. First-inning scoring keeps popping for both teams, and Coors elevates run expectancy across every batted-ball distribution from line-drive singles upward. Everything converges on a totals play that exploits environment, form, and matchup-specific vulnerabilities without overcomplicating the window for easy profit.

I want barrels in altitude, runners in motion, and reprised loud contact against mismatched command across every offensive sequence tonight. Pfaadt’s .801 OPS allowed and Gordon’s nightmare month guarantee traffic long before bullpen roulette enters the scene in the eighth. Arizona’s top-six offense applies immediate torque, while Colorado’s rotation and relief corps keep pouring accelerant on every mistake they see.

Hammering the over with confidence, because this game breathes offense from introductions to handshakes and never lets up early.

Best bet: Diamondbacks vs. Rockies o12.0 total runs (-115)
