Today’s contest between the Mariners and the Orioles has been delayed due to inclement weather mid-way through the top of the sixth inning. At the time of the stoppage, Baltimore was leading 5-0.
More than likely, this delay will end what has been a very promising outing for Tomoyuki Sugano, who had allowed only three hits and a walk across 5.1 scoreless innings. Sugano has struggled in his rookie season outside the NPB, entering Thursday’s tilt with a 9-5 record, but a 5.69 xERA over 121.0 innings.
The game had been tied through three innings, yet the Orioles broke things open with three runs in the fourth and another two in the bottom of the fifth.
