Fantasy Baseball Picks Today: Top DraftKings MLB DFS Targets, Values for Wednesday 8/13/25

Wednesday features a midweek fantasy baseball doubleheader for DFS fantasy baseball managers, with a five-game wave starting at 2:10 p.m. ET and a six-game slate that begins at 7:05 p.m. ET. Both slates have great contests available, and in this post, we’re zeroing in on the latte 12-team player pool for contests under the lights. Some great matchups are on the board in that window, so let’s dive in and take a look at this six-game slate and highlight my top MLB DFS picks for Wednesday evening.

The main weather concern to be aware of on Wednesday night is in New York, which impacts two games on this slate, since both the Yankees and Mets have home games on the schedule. Storms are expected to move in during the game, so keep a very close eye on the forecast if you are including players (especially pitchers) from those two games. Two of the other games are indoors in Toronto and Houston, while the Angels and Athletics host the two late games in sunny California. Including players from the two New York games will be high-risk, and be sure to have a pivot ready if the weather forecast doesn’t shift.

Pitchers

Stud

Kevin Gausman, Toronto Blue Jays vs. Chicago Cubs, $8,800: Gausman has posted over 30 fantasy points in three of his last four starts, even dominating in his most recent outing, which took place at Coors Field. He is only 8-8 on the year but has a solid 3.85 ERA and 3.67 FIP overall and a 2.54 ERA over his last eight outings, allowing more than three earned runs only once during that span.

Gausman has been especially effective this year against lefties, holding them to a .177 batting average and .251 wOBA, so he should match up favorably against the Cubs, who build their lineup around several lefties. Over the last 30 days, the Cubs have scored the second-fewest runs in the majors, while hitting .239 as a team. Even though they are still a strong offense, they are no longer a “must avoid” matchup, especially given Gausman’s three starts with over 30 fantasy points in his last four outings.

The Blue Jays’ starter brings a high ceiling at a nice mid-range salary and doesn’t have to worry about the weather, so he’s a strong option to use as your SP1.

Value

J.T. Ginn, Athletics vs. Tampa Bay Rays, $6,800: Even though the weather will favor the offenses in Sacramento, I think both Ginn and Drew Rasmussen ($8,200) are solid values to consider depending on how much salary you have for your SP2. Ginn is extremely affordable under $7,000 and has posted over 20 fantasy points in two of his last three starts. He had nine strikeouts against the Orioles in his most recent outing, earning 20.25 fantasy points despite taking the loss. He gave up two homers in the first inning but settled down with four scoreless frames after that while picking up 17 swinging strikes on 87 pitches, indicating the potential for more strikeouts and production.

Ginn was also strong in a win over the Astros, totaling 23.1 fantasy points two weeks ago, and has shown positive signs since returning to the rotation near the end of July. Ginn has been up and down, but he brings a good ceiling against the Rays, who are hitting only .222 as a team in the last 30 days with an average of 3.7 runs per game, the third-fewest in the majors over that stretch.

Infield

Stud

Zach Neto, Los Angeles Angels vs. Los Angeles Dodgers, $5,000: Neto and the Angels have taken back-to-back games from the Dodgers and go for the series sweep on Wednesday night. Neto went 3-for-3 with a pair of solo home runs, an additional run scored, two walks, and 37 fantasy points on Monday in the series opener, and he’s up to 19 homers on the season. His next home run will give him a second straight 20/20 season after finishing with 23 homers and 30 stolen bases in 2024 and already posting 21 stolen bases in 2025.

The 24-year-old has boosted his batting average from .249 last season to .269 this season and has hit four homers with four stolen bases in his 24 games since the All-Star break. He has an impressive 46.9% hard-hit rate and 13.0% barrel rate this year, and should continue to anchor the top of the Angels’ batting order for the rest of the season. He’ll have a tough matchup against Shohei Ohtani ($8,000), but he still brings an extremely high ceiling.

Stud

Max Muncy, Los Angeles Dodgers at Los Angeles Angels, $4,500: Muncy has gone right back to smashing after a month off after a left knee bone bruise. In his eight games since returning, he is 8-for-23 (.348) with four singles, four homers, nine walks and nine RBI.

Muncy is up to a 52.6% hard-hit rate on the season and is up to 17 homers with a .233 ISO and .400 xwOBA in his 89 games this season. He still comes with an extremely high ceiling as a lefty power hitter. He’ll be in a good matchup against Kyle Hendricks ($6,500) and the Angels. Muncy is 3-for-12 with a double and a homer in his past career matchups against Hendricks.

Value

Christian Moore, Los Angeles Angels vs. Los Angeles Dodgers, $2,300: Both Ronny Mauricio ($3,000) and Francisco Alvarez ($2,900) are good values if the Mets are able to play their game, but Moore is a good play at second base at barely more than the minimum if you need a salary-saver in the infield.

Moore missed almost exactly one month on the injured list recovering from a left thumb sprain. He has gone 5-for-23 (.217) with four walks, two doubles and three runs scored. He had a pair of hits on Tuesday night after coming into the game in the sixth inning as a pinch hitter for Yoan Moncada.

OUTFIELD

Stud

Tyler Soderstrom, Athletics vs. Tampa Bay Rays, $4,700: Soderstrom started the season scalding hot and then cooled off for a little bit. He moved to the outfield to make space for Nick Kurtz ($6,200), and has caught fire again this month.

In August, he has gone 13-for-39 (.333) with five doubles, three homers, 10 RBI, and an average of 10 fantasy points per game. He has double-digit fantasy points in five of his last eight games, including each of the first two games in this series.

Stud

Daulton Varsho, Toronto Blue Jays vs. Chicago Cubs, $4,500: Varsho has also been heating up this month since returning from the injured list. He came back on August 1 and has gone 10-for-25 (.357) with four homers, five walks and 12.75 fantasy points per game.

Varsho has reached base multiple times via hit or walk in each of his last six games, and had 19 fantasy points on Tuesday with his 12th homer of the season. The Jays have a tough matchup against Cade Horton ($7,500), but lefties like Varsho have hit .272 with a .297 wOBA, while righties have only managed a .214 batting average.

Value

Bryce Teodosio, Los Angeles Angels vs. Los Angeles Dodgers, $2,500: If the Braves and Mets game happens, Eli White ($2,500) and Michael Harris II ($3,300) will be good values for the Braves, but if you want a safer play where weather isn’t an issue, Bryce Teodosio makes sense as a bargain play.

Teodosio is hitting .333 in his nine games, with three doubles and three stolen bases. He went 0-for-4 in his first two games, but since then, he has at least seven fantasy points in five of his last seven contests. He’s usually near the bottom of the lineup, but he has proven he can chip in a few fantasy points with either speed or a few hits.

He has been playing fantasy sports since box scores were only available in the newspaper the following day. Even though he grew up almost 8,000 miles away in Guam, he is a diehard Boston sports fan but will take a fantasy value play wherever he can get it, even if it’s from the Yankees.
