Every year, the winners of the Champions League and Europa League clash just before the start of the new season to play in the UEFA Super Cup. This year’s game will be played between PSG and Tottenham on Wednesday, August 13th at 3 p.m. ET.
Paris won their first Champions League in club history in May, and Tottenham defied all the odds in the Europa League final to win their first major trophy since 2008.
These teams will both have a chance to win their first UEFA Super Cup on Wednesday, and below is my favorite bet on DraftKings Sportsbook for the game.
PSG vs. Tottenham Prediction, Pick
For this game, I am going to take PSG moneyline and Tottenham not to score. This bet can be found under the “Game Parlays” tab. For this bet to hit, PSG must simply win the game within the 90 minutes while not conceding a goal.
Despite their shocking FIFA Club World Cup final loss to Chelsea, Paris have been keeping a lot of clean sheets recently against a lot of great opposition. In seven of their last nine games in all competitions, PSG have won the game without conceding. In the two games where they did not accomplish that feat, they lost the game outright. This includes wins with a clean sheet against the likes of Inter Milan, Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.
They are capable of a shockingly bad performance every now and again, as we saw at the Club World Cup against Botafogo and Chelsea, but more often than not, they are firing on all cylinders. Despite the 3-0 loss to Chelsea, I still see PSG as the best club team on the planet at the moment, and I think they will show that against a Tottenham side that are very hit or miss. Yes, they had an incredible run in the Europa League last season, but let’s not forget that this is still the same team that finished in 17th place last season in the Premier League.
Yes, Spurs have a new manager in Thomas Frank this season, but they have not looked convincing under their new boss in preseason. Granted, it is only preseason, but Tottenham have only won two of their six warm-up games. I think there is still work to be done in this transfer window for them, and they will likely take some time to gel together with Frank at the helm.
This game comes too soon for Tottenham against a well-oiled machine of a team in PSG, who are fresh off winning their domestic league and the Champions League in style.
