Sky vs. Sun prediction
The Sun enter this matchup on a five-game losing streak and well out of the playoff mix. They have just five wins this season and own the worst point differential (-12.3) of all teams.
This game against the Sky could be a win, but it won’t do much for the overall standings. However, if the goal is to not be last, this is a major game. Technically, neither team is eliminated from playoff contention yet, but it’s getting awfully close with about a dozen games remaining.
The Sky are 8-23 and have been without Angel Reese for a handful of games. She’s dealing with a back injury and hasn’t played since July 29. She’s considered day-to-day.
Her presence inside is a major reason why the Sky aren’t winless. She’s averaging 14.2 points, 12.6 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game. She’s also improved her field goal percentage to 44.4 percent, a considerable increase from her early-season struggles.
Chicago is on a two-game losing streak, but it’s lost 10 of its last 11 games. The one win came against the Mystics on Aug. 5.
Sky vs. Sun pick, best bet
The Sun are favored by 2.5 points in this contest since they’re at home and Reese could be sidelined again. Without her, the Sky are at a significant disadvantage, but not enough to side with Connecticut.
Chicago can win without Reese, but for safety, I’m sticking with the Sky’s +2.5 spread.
