Next up is the BMW Championship, which is the second of three tournaments for the FedEx Cup Playoffs. The BMW Championship will be played at Caves Valley Golf Club (par 70, 7,601 yards, bentgrass greens) in Owings Mills, Maryland, which hosted this event in 2021. That year, Patrick Cantlay (-27) defeated Bryson DeChambeau in a six-hole playoff. The top-50 players in the FedEx Cup standings have qualified for this week’s BMW Championship, but only 49 will be competing after Sepp Straka (personal) withdrew Monday. There will be no cut this week and following the BMW Championship, the top-30 players in the FedEx Cup standings will advance to the TOUR Championship next week to conclude the FedEx Cup Playoffs.
Since the 2021 BMW Championship at Caves Valley, this Tom Fazio design has been lengthened and converted from a par 72 to a very long par 70 at 7,601 yards. Caves Valley will also feature thicker rough and narrower fairways this time around, on top of the course presenting 68 bunkers and water in play on five holes. Surely this was an effort by the PGA TOUR to make this course more challenging after the players shot very low numbers at Caves Valley in 2021.
With this course now a lengthy par 70, efficient drivers are great targets this week. Also, with the putting surfaces on the smaller side at Caves Valley, rostering players who are in compelling form with their irons is wise, as always. With Caves Valley now a par 70, this track is home to 12 par fours and seven of these holes fall between 450-500 yards. As a result, seeking players who score well on this length of hole has a ton of merit this week.

Top DraftKings PGA TOUR DFS Bargain Plays for the BMW Championship
Si Woo Kim ($7,300) – After a rough patch of missing three straight cuts, Kim got back on track last week at the FedEx St. Jude Championship. The 30-year-old finished T-14 and he impressively ranked first in SG APP and second in SGT2G among the world-class field at TPC Southwind. This marked Kim’s 11th top-25 finish in 26 solo starts this season and he notably ranks sixth on the PGA TOUR in SGT2G.
Kim finished a solid T-29 of the 70-man field at Caves Valley in 2021 and he has the potential for a much higher finish in his second attempt at the venue this week if he can stay hot as a ball-striker.
Taylor Pendrith ($7,200) – Pendrith is in the midst of a great season with eight top-25 finishes in 22 starts. His best finish of the season is a T-5 at the PGA Championship, which is very notable, as this major was played at the Fazio-designed Quail Hollow Golf Club. Ranking eighth in SG OTT, Pendrith has been one of the best drivers on the PGA TOUR this season and the Canadian’s skills in this department set him up well for the daunting Caves Valley.
Pendrith ranks ninth in strokes gained per round when we compare this field’s last 50 rounds at par 70s that are over 7,500 yards in length and he brings outstanding upside for a player this cheap. Among the players priced under $7.5K for DFS, Pendrith carries the best odds to win the BMW Championship at +6500 on DraftKings Sportsbook.
J.T. Poston ($6,700) – Poston’s game is firing on all cylinders right now. After finishing T-11 at the Wyndham Championship, the three-time PGA TOUR winner finished T-22 at last week’s FedEx St. Jude Championship. Poston gained strokes across the board at TPC Southwind last week and he has shot under par in all but one of his past eight rounds. Poston has carded nine top-30 finishes in 22 solo starts this season and just like Pendrith, Poston finished T-5 at the Fazio-designed Quail Hollow for the PGA Championship in May.
Sitting 50th in the FedEx Cup standings, Poston needs to finish high on the leaderboard at the BMW Championship to advance to the TOUR Championship and the highly motivated veteran is one of the best bargains on the board at this sub-$7K salary.
