It is a full slate of WNBA action tonight with five games taking place across the slate. The Minnesota Lynx got the day started with a victory over the New York Liberty. Four more games are set to take place, building out to the final matchup between the Connecticut Sun and Las Vegas Aces.
There are plenty of ways to get involved in the action across the Sunday slate. Here are my three favorite WNBA prop bets on DraftKings Sportsbook for the round of matchups.
Paige Bueckers to Record 20+ Points (+175)
Paige Bueckers leads the Dallas Wings in scoring at 18.6 points per game and has especially found her stride of late. She enters this matchup having scored 20+ points in four straight games and also tallied 20 points against the Washington Mystics back in June. While Kiki Irifan and Sonyia Citron also remain in the Rookie of the Year mix, this is a great chance for Bueckers to cement her standing for the award in the matchup today.
Washington ranks sixth in opponents’ points per game on the season and is posting the eighth-best defensive NET rating across their past five games. Bueckers missed her previous game due to a back issue, but is expected to be a full go today and will benefit from some additional rest. There were some growing pains from the UConn product when she initially made the WNBA leap, but she has fully settled in, and it has looked like the game has slowed down for her in recent matchups.
The standard point prop for Bueckers is set at 16.5 with the odds set at -115 on both directions on DraftKings Sportsbook. But Buckers has tallied 20+ points in each of her last four games and 13 of the 24 games overall. The Mystics do not possess the caliber of defense it requires to slow down the star guard and count on her to build off the recent stretch of strong play. With success already against the Mystics this year, I am backing Bueckers to tally 20+ points at 175 odds on DraftKings.
Alyssa Thomas Over 8.5 Assists (+100)
The Phoenix Mercury will host the Atlanta Dream tonight, with both teams holding a 19-11 record and tied for third place in the WNBA standings. Alyssa Thomas has played herself into MVP conversations and enters this matchup coming off three consecutive triple-doubles. Overall, Thomas is averaging 15.9 points, 9.2 assists, and 8.7 rebounds per game.
The six-time All-Star has tallied nine or more assists in 13 of the 25 games overall this season. This includes one of the two meetings with the Dream already this year. Atlanta ranks third in opponents’ points allowed, but sixth in defensive rating, sixth in opponents’ field goal percentage, and ninth in three-point percentage allowed.
Phoenix is at its best when the ball is funneling through Thomas as the lead decision-maker and is riding a three-game winning streak into tonight. It is not coincidental that Thomas is playing her best basketball across this stretch and has plenty to build off with the triple-double streak in mind. This is a matchup that will carry some weight in the standings with the playoffs looming. Expect Thomas to be ready to bring her best and tally at least nine assists for the fourth straight game and 14th time this season.
Kelsey Plum Over 17.5 Points (-125)
Kelsey Plum is coming off her worst game of the season, in which she was held to just four points on 1-for-9 shooting in the previous loss to the Golden State Valkyries. This marks the lone time all season that Plum has been held below 11 points and her worst shooting performance of the year. Luckily, she has a chance to wipe away the poor performance and is back in action to face the Seattle Storm tonight.
On the season overall, Plum is averaging 21.2 points per game, and she is averaging 19.5 points per game on the second night of back-to-backs. The four-time All-Star has tallied over 17.5 points in 19 of the 29 games this season. This will mark Plum’s second matchup with Seattle this season, with her finishing with 22 points in the first game. The Storm rank fourth in opponents’ points per game, fourth in defensive rating, fifth in opponents’ field goal percentage, and fifth in opponents’ three-point percentage.
The poor performance in the previous game allows a discount in the player prop department. Count on a bounce-back performance from the former champion and for Plum to lead the offensive charge for the Sparks. Before the four-point outing, Plum had tallied over 17.5 points in six straight games. Look for her to get back on track by tallying at least 18 points tonight.
