All 30 MLB teams will be in action across today’s Sunday, August 10th slate. Roughly 45 regular-season games are remaining, with the postseason race heating up across the league. It is a front-loaded slate with plenty of action across the afternoon, building out to the Sunday Night Baseball matchup between the Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals. One of the more unique ways to get in on the action, and one of the newest features on DraftKings this year is Pick6 Fantasy Baseball!
This article will look at my top Pick6 plays for today’s action, 8/10/25. You simply choose whether each set statistic will be more or less than the set number. With the stage set, here are my favorite picks on tonight’s MLB slate.
Zack Wheeler More Than 7.5 Strikeouts
The Phillies pushed back Zack Wheeler’s start this week, which was originally scheduled for Friday. The ace reportedly dealt with some shoulder soreness following his previous start, but all imaging came back clean, and this is looked at as nothing more than precautionary. He has had a full week off since his last start and has been dominant all season.
Wheeler is posting a 2.64 ERA with an NL-best 182 strikeouts across his first 139.2 innings pitched. He is heavily in the NL Cy Young race and will look to add to his impressive season today. Wheeler’s 11.7 strikeouts per nine innings ranks second in the MLB, and he is averaging 8.27 strikeouts per start. He has tallied more than 7.5 strikeouts in 15 of the 22 games this season, including eight of his last nine starts. The Rangers’ offense is posting a collective .232 batting average, tied for the third-worst, and it ranks 15th in strikeout percentage. There have been no signs of a reduction in production from Wheeler despite the reported soreness, and the additional rest should do him well. Count on the Phillies star to continue his high level of dominance and carve up the Rangers’ offense for more than 7.5 strikeouts again today.
MacKenzie Gore More Than 5.5 Strikeouts
It has been a frustrating season for the Washington Nationals, but they have collected some intriguing young talent in the hope that this can catapult them into contention moving forward. MacKenzie Gore is a key part of this and broke out for his first All-Star appearance this season. The 26-year-old is posting a 4.29 ERA across his first 126.0 innings pitched with 148 strikeouts. Gore is coming off a bit of a rough stretch, including allowing a season-high 12 hits and eight earned runs and being chased in just 3.0 innings pitched in his previous start.
Looking at today’s matchup, Gore will be on the mound against the San Francisco Giants. The Giants are posting the fifth-worst batting average, rank 24th in OPS, 26th in total bases and 16th in total strikeouts. Gore has tallied more than 5.5 strikeouts in 15 of the 23 starts this season. One of these includes a matchup with the Giants in which he struck out nine in six innings just over 2.5 months ago. Look for Gore to get back on track and return to form with more than 5.5 strikeouts today.
Junior Caminero More Than 0.5 Home Runs
It has been a breakout season for Junior Caminero, who earned his first All-Star appearance at age 22. The Rays star has produced 32 home runs already this season, including four in his past three games. This is a friendly matchup with Bryan Woo on the mound for the Mariners, who has allowed seven home runs in his past four starts. Overall, Woo is posting a 3.02 ERA with 21 home runs allowed, but he has not escaped without allowing an earned run in his past five starts.
Caminero is posting reverse splits and hitting better against right-handed pitching this year. Against right-handers, he is posting .267/.307/.527 splits compared to .236/.271/.512 against lefties. Of his 32 home runs, 22 have come against right-handed pitching this season. With Woo trending in the wrong direction and Caminero producing at a high level, look for the Rays’ star to put another over the fence today.
Ezequiel Tovar More Than 0.5 Hits
It has been a dreadful season for the Colorado Rockies, who are limping to the finish line. Ezequiel Tovar has been one of the bigger bright spots and is building off an impressive season last year in which he led the National League with 45 doubles and added 26 home runs. So far this season, Tovar is slashing .274/.316/.452 and is posting a career-best .768 OPS. He has been especially impressive against left-handers with a 1.037 OPS, .250 ISO and 41.7% hard-hit rate in the 17 games since he came back from injury.
Brandon Pfaadt will be on the mound for the Diamondbacks and enters with a 5.02 ERA. He has allowed 11 earned runs and 21 hits across his past three starts and has only limited opponents to fewer than two earned runs in five of his 23 starts. Tovar has one hit against Pfaadt already in his career and has seven hits across his past five games. Look for the shortstop to continue his stretch of strong production and tally another hit tonight.
Shota Imanaga Less Than 5.5 Hits Against
In the late game tonight, the Cardinals will host the Cubs. Shota Imanaga will be on the mound for Chicago and enters with a 3.21 ERA and 70 strikeouts tallied across his first 89.1 innings pitched. He has been especially impressive across his first three matchups with the Cardinals, posting a 2-0 record, a 2.41 ERA and a 0.857 WHIP. The most recent matchup occurred this year, with Imanaga holding the Cardinals scoreless for five innings and striking out three while allowing just one hit.
St. Louis does not enter with the most intimidating lineup, as it ranks 15th in wOBA and 18th in slugging against left-handed pitching this season. This outlook further improves with Brendan Donovan, arguably the team’s best hitter, set to miss tonight due to a groin injury. Imanaga has held opponents to fewer than 5.5 hits in 12 of his 16 starts this season, including eight of his last nine. Count on the Cubs’ starter to be ready to rise to the challenge and limit the Cardinals to fewer than 5.5 hits tonight.
Sonny Gray More Than 1.5 Earned Runs Allowed
On the other side of the matchup, it is not as favorable an outlook for Sonny Gray. The Cardinals’ starter enters with a 4.21 ERA with 129 hits and 141 strikeouts across his first 128.1 innings pitched. Gray is a three-time All-Star and is coming off a strong start against the Dodgers in which he held the impressive offense to just one earned run across seven innings pitched while notching eight strikeouts.
However, in the three previous starts, Gray was lit up for 17 earned runs in just 13.1 innings pitched. He has struggled at home, with opponents hitting .272 against him compared to .240 on the road. Across his 23 starts, Gray has allowed more than 1.5 earned runs in 10 of these starts. This includes five of his past seven starts. Chicago ranks eighth in the MLB in batting average as a team, fifth in home runs, second in RBIs, fourth in total bases and second in runs. Expect Gray to have a respectable performance on the mound, but not without allowing more than 1.5 earned runs to this high-powered Cubs offense.
