The Wings are hosting the Mystics on Sunday. On DraftKings Sportsbook, Dallas is favored by three points and this game carries a total of 163.5 points.
Below, I break down the matchup between the Wings and the Mystics and give a pick for the game.
Wings vs. Mystics preview, prediction
The Wings and Mystics will go head-to-head Sunday for the third time this season. This season series is tied at one win apiece. Washington won the first matchup by three points in an overtime thriller in June and then, Dallas won the second matchup by eight points just six days later.
Since the All-Star break, the Wings and Mystics have struggled. During this span, both teams own a 2-6 record and Dallas and Washington rank 11th and 12th in net rating, respectively. While the Wings sit low in the standings, Paige Bueckers has had a terrific rookie season, leading the team with 18.6 points and 5.4 assists per game and she is the unanimous pick to be named Rookie of the Year.
As for the Mystics, the club just traded its leading scorer in Brittney Sykes to the Storm this past Tuesday in exchange for Alysha Clark and a 2026 first-round pick. Clark is just a role player and no longer having Sykes at the helm is a huge loss for Washington, as the team’s offensive and defensive ratings have both been far worse with her off the floor this season. Overall, the Mystics are 2-3 with Sykes unavailable in 2025.
Sykes’ departure clears the way for rookie Sonia Citron to take on a larger role for Washington. The Notre Dame product was the third overall pick from this past WNBA draft and she will put up strong numbers for the rest of the season. The Mystics also still have a solid frontcourt featuring Shakira Austin and Kiki Iriafen, but as a team, it’s going to take time for Washington to adjust to life without Sykes. While the Wings and Mystics are two of the WNBA’s worst teams, Bueckers and Citron clashing in a battle of promising rookie guards should make this an entertaining contest.
Wings vs. Mystics pick, best bet
With the Wings at home for this matchup, the club has the upper hand over this Mystics team that just traded away its top scorer. While this should be a competitive matchup, Dallas should prevail and attacking the Wings at a -155 price on the moneyline is the right call for this tilt.
