Milwaukee Brewers vs. New York Mets prediction, pick for Saturday 8/9/25

Saturday’s MLB slate brings action on the diamond across the entire day, but one of the biggest games on the schedule takes place in a loaded 7 p.m. window. The Milwaukee Brewers (71-44) battle the New York Mets (63-53) for the second straight day in a showdown between the MLB’s winningest team and a major-market contender.

Here’s a Brewers vs. Mets prediction and pick for Saturday’s high-profile matchup.

Brewers vs. Mets prediction, preview

These Brewers look like a true World Series contender at the moment with the best record in all of professional baseball. They’re 15-4 since the All-Star Game and an astounding 9-1 over their last 10 contests, so Milwaukee enters with all the momentum in the world on their side. They’ve scored the second-most runs of any team since the ASG with the third-best OPS, especially thanks to a .357 OBP only exceeded by the Toronto Blue Jays. Much of that success comes despite the absence of star Jackson Chourio, who remains on IL with a hamstring strain suffered in late July.

The Mets still hold very high expectations for the postseason but don’t bring the same form into this matchup. New York sits just 8-11 since the ASG and lost five straight games, with their last win coming on August 2. They’re just 25th in scoring since the season resumed and scored a combined five runs across their last three contests. These Mets also fall all the way to 29th in OPS at .639 since the break, a far cry from their 13th-ranked full-season mark of .722.

As for the starter battle, the Brewers trot out Tobias Myers (4.30 ERA, 1.61 WHIP, 19 SO) who hasn’t looked great in a limited sample. The Mets plan to send out reliever Reed Garrett (2.51 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, 54 SO) as an opener.

Brewers vs. Mets pick, best bet

The Brewers enter as -126 favorites on the Moneyline on DraftKings Sportsbook. The Mets come in at +104 to win outright with a run total of nine.

Myers has bounced between the MLB and Triple-A this year and has made just two appearances in relief since July 23. In his handful of starts, he went more than four innings just once. The Milwaukee bullpen performs well enough at around the middle of the league in ERA and WHIP, so they’re largely a neutral matchup for the Mets once Myers exits the game.

The Brewers are a top team in the MLB and have plenty of momentum on their side, plus they beat this team in a 3-2 nailbiter yesterday. With their scorching-hot form and the Mets’ struggles at 1-9 over their last 10 contests, this one may not even be close. This looks like a line worth jumping in in what could become a lopsided affair if the Mets’ offense can’t begin to round into form.

Best bet: MIL Brewers ML (-126)
