NFL Preseason Week 1 is underway as fans get their first look at their favorite teams and players in some exhibition matches.
The Giants and Bills will play their first game of the preseason on Saturday, Aug. 9 at 1 p.m. ET. It will air on NFL Network.
Buffalo is a three-point favorite and -155 on the moneyline on DraftKings Sportsbook. The game total is set at over/under 36.5 points.
Here’s my prediction and pick for Saturday’s Giants vs. Bills matchup.
Giants vs. Bills prediction
The Bills had another excellent season headlined by Josh Allen winning his first MVP. However, the team fell short in the postseason yet again. Allen and the rest of the offense remains mostly unchanged heading into 2025.
Allen leads the quarterback room with Mitchell Trubisky, Mike White and Shane Buechele backing him up. It’s unlikely that Allen gets many snaps in preseason, so expect the other three to take on the majority of the load.
Meanwhile, the Giants had another disastrous season and added Abdul Carter in the draft to improve the defense. The quarterback room is completely different with Russell Wilson, Jameis Winston, Jaxson Dart and Tommy DeVito. DeVito is the only returning member and will likely find himself as the fourth stringer.
Malik Nabers is the Giants’ guy, so his development in his second season will be key. This will be the team’s first look at him in a preseason game.
Giants vs. Bills pick, best bet
The Bills are the better team, but it’s preseason. The starters aren’t going to play every snap, which makes it easier on the Giants. New York has the advantage with quarterback depth.
I’m siding with the Giants here as they kick off the preseason with a win. The moneyline is set at +130.
