It’s a busy Wednesday night of baseball with five games starting at 6:45 p.m. ET or later. From the 10 teams in action, there are some strong starting pitchers ready to take the mound. Each pitcher has a variety of different starting pitcher prop bets to consider on DraftKings Sportsbook. After breaking down the matchups and current form, my top starting pitcher prop bets for Wednesday are from Jeffrey Springs, Nestor Cortes and Anthony DeSclafani.

Jeffrey Springs to record the win (+145)
Springs was one of my top MLB DFS targets for the day, and he’s in a great spot to get the win on Wednesday night against the Nationals.
Springs has won four of his last five starts and is up to 10 wins on the season. He has worked at least the minimum of five innings in 10 of his last 11 outings and has allowed fewer than three runs in each of those 10 games. He has been effective on the road and at home at hitter-friendly Sutter Health Park, and the lefty has stepped up since he joined the A’s rotation in the offseason via trade from the Rays.
To get the win, Springs will need some help from his teammates against Cade Cavalli, who was very hittable despite a high strikeout rate at Triple-A. He’ll also need help from the re-made Athletics bullpen, which is a scary factor and raises the risk of him not getting the win even if he leaves with the lead. A safer play would be Springs to record over 17.5 outs at -140, but I’m hunting for longer odds with this prop instead.
Any “to record a win” prop is high-risk, but I like Springs to get the victory as part of my top starting pitcher prop bets Wednesday night.
Anthony DeSclafani under 14.5 outs (+120)
DeSclafani will be making his third start of the season and second straight start since joining the rotation after the Diamondbacks sold off starting pitchers at the trade deadline. The 35-year-old righty threw 59 pitches last Friday in Atlanta, but only got through 2 1/3 innings.
In fact, DeSclafani hasn’t recorded 15 outs in any of his nine games this season. He didn’t pitch in the majors last year, so the last time he went over this outs recorded line was June 25, 2023, which was 773 days ago.
DeSclafani has stretched out to 50+ pitches, so he definitely could get through five innings, in theory. However, he’s been so hittable this year that I don’t think he’ll get that deep into this matchup.
He faced the Padres on June 15, and they got two runs on three hits in 2 1/3 innings. I’m a little surprised to get the under on this outs recorded at plus-money, but I’m not complaining while hammering the under on Wednesday.
Nestor Cortes over 4.5 strikeouts thrown (+125)
I usually don’t pick opposing pitchers, but these two starting pitcher prop bets are good plays independently, and on this five-game slate, I’m fine investing heavily in this NL West matchup.
Cortes is making his Padres debut against the Diamondbacks, who have a lightened lineup after the MLB trade deadline. Last offseason, the Yankees traded Nasty Nestor to the Brewers, but he only made two starts before landing on the injured list. He was nearing a return when the Brewers traded him to San Diego in exchange for Brandon Lockridge ($2,300).
In 2024, Cortes appeared in 31 games for the Yankees, going 9-10 and averaging 5.2 strikeouts per game. He had just two strikeouts in his Brewers debut, but then bounced back with six strikeouts in his second start against the Reds.
Before the trade, Cortes ramped up with four rehab starts in the Brewers’ system. He had 18 strikeouts in 18 innings during his rehab while allowing just two earned runs. In his last start, he stacked up nine strikeouts against Triple-A Charlotte in 5 2/3 innings.
He should be ready for a big enough workload to get a handful of strikeouts against the lefty-heavy Dbacks, and I think he’ll be able to get at least five strikeouts. I love getting this play at plus-money to close out my starting pitcher prop bets for Wednesday’s slate.
