What happened to Gleyber Torres? Live injury updates for Tigers vs. Twins 8/5/25

With roughly an hour and a half to go before first pitch of the Detroit Tigers’ matchup against the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday, a last-minute lineup change now shakes things up.

All-Star second baseman Gleyber Torres has been scratched from Detroit’s lineup due to left forearm tightness.

Torres slashes .273/.370/.426 this season in a true bounce-back campaign in his first year as a Tiger. He’s tallied 58 runs, 55 RBI and 15 homers on the season as a mainstay in Detroit’s AL-best lineup.

With Torres now out, Zach McKinstry slides to second base and Javier Baez enters the lineup to take over at shortstop.

The Tigers have struggled since the All-Star Game with a 6-10 record since returning from the break, but the team did bounce back last night with a 6-3 win over the Twins to open this series. Heading into tonight, Detroit sees a chance to revitalize a lineup which underperformed over the last couple of weeks.
