Note: Brewers starter Jacob Misiorowski is managing a right shin contusion, and the Brewers placed him on the IL this morning. As of right now, Logan Henderson is now slated to start the game. This, however, does not change my lean. Below, I’ve got my preview, prediction, and best bet for this Wednesday baseball game between the Nationals and the Brewers.
Here’s how I’ll play it. I’ll be pumping out these predictions for individual games all season, with plenty of coverage here on DraftKings Network. Follow my handle @dansby_edits for more betting plays.
Nationals vs. Brewers prediction, preview
Christian Yelich sustains an elite 130 wRC+ this season, slashing .260/.338/.449 with 21 homers against righties. William Contreras contributes a .354 OBP and 101 hits, bolstering this lineup. The Brewers rank fifth in MLB with 4.89 runs per game, while Washington treads at 4.31. Jacob Misiorowski’s slider whiff rate tops 28 percent, crushing batters. Brad Lord’s 7.1 K/9 simply fails to replicate that dominance. Milwaukee owns a perfect 5-0 head-to-head record this year, outscoring Washington 54-20 across those games.
Some observers will tout Lord’s last Houston outing, but that argument collapses under scrutiny. His 3.93 xFIP inflates toward regression against a potent Brewers offense. Nostalgia for Lord’s relief success misreads his 1.20 WHIP as sustainable. Suggesting a low-scoring affair ignores Nationals Park’s 1.054 home run factor and recent 16-run outburst. Every counterpoint dissolves under Milwaukee’s offensive assault and pitching disparity. Logan Henderson doesn’t provide much, but when you stack up how the Brewers likely plan to manage this game, advantage swings MIL.
Brewers vs. Nationals pick, best bet
Brewers travel 30-24 with a .275 road average and cover -1.5 in seven of their last nine games after playing the previous day. They’ve gone 20-6 in their last 26 road tilts. Dimers’ model grants Milwaukee a 56 percent win probability vs. 44 percent for Washington. The over/under trends hit over in nine of ten season-series games, yet I see overwhelming edge in Milwaukee -1.5 at -115. Weather forecasts call for mid-80s heat with light winds blowing out to left-center, activating the park’s hitter-friendly bias.
Brewers starters combined to limit opponents to a .232 batting average, while Nationals pitching surrenders a .269 clip. Nats bullpen ERA sits at a bloated 5.72, ranking dead last, whereas Milwaukee relievers post a solid 3.82 mark. That disparity locks down late innings, guaranteeing run-line success.
Best bet: Brewers -1.5 (+105) at Nationals
