Prediction, Pick for Gunther vs. CM Punk

After multiple blood feuds with Drew McIntyre and Seth Rollins, Punk now has his eyes set on WWE gold. Punk is taking on Gunther for his World Heavyweight Championship in the Main Event of Saturday’s SummerSlam card. Will the “Second City Saint” win his first WWE title in over a decade, or can Gunther defeat another legend?

Here is my prediction for the Main Event of SummerSlam on Saturday.

Gunther vs. Punk Prediction

This is Punk’s moment. Since returning to WWE in November 2023, as I previously mentioned, he has great rivalries and matches, but one thing has been missing. Championship gold. That is because Punk is a six-time WWE Champion and is synonymous with being a champion.

Gunther is one of five wrestlers to hold the World Heavyweight title since its creation two years ago. Rollins, along with Gunther, has done a great job of making that new championship feel important. But Punk is the guy who can take that title to new heights. Punk is one of the biggest superstars currently in the WWE and of all time.

If Rollins made an appearance at the event, the most logical spot is in this match. That is possible, but it is more realistic for Punk to beat Gunther and continue his storyline in the future with Rollins. Punk lost his last WWE title opportunity against The Rock at the Elimination Chamber in 2013. His previous title victory came against John Cena and Ryback at Survivor Series in 2012.
