Ranger Suarez over 6.5 strikeouts (-110)

Suarez starts for the Phillies in the first game of their marquee series this weekend against the Tigers. The Tigers are tied with the Blue Jays and Brewers for the most wins in the majors, but their offense has been sputtering a little bit over the last month.

The Tigers have the second-highest K% in the majors over the last 30 days with an average of 4.3 runs per game and a .232 batting average. Against lefties, the Tigers have hit only .235 with seven homers and a .303 wOBA over the last month.

Suarez should be able to continue their struggles on Friday night, and he should be able to go over this strikeout line. He has 90 strikeouts in 93 2/3 innings this year with an average of 6.0 strikeouts per start. Over his last seven starts, he has averaged 6.6 strikeouts per start, going over this line in four of those outings.

In his most recent start, Suarez struck out eight in 5 2/3 innings to beat the Yankees in the Bronx. He was knocked around by the Angels in his previous start, so that outing against the Yankees was a nice bounce-back performance and one he will look to build on with another strong outing against the Tigers on Friday night.

Nick Pivetta to record a win (+130)

Pivetta has 10 wins in 21 starts for the Padres this season, and San Diego is one of the heaviest favorites on the board this Friday night as they open their series against the Cardinals at Petco Park. Matthew Liberatore will get the start against Pivetta, who has been up-and-down latley and hittable in his last few starts.

Pivetta has a 2.07 ERA and 2.39 FIP in his 11 home starts and has held opponents to a .185 batting average with only a .223 wOBA. He has won six of those 11 starts at home, and he has turned in quality starts in all but three of those outings.

He will be facing the Cardinals for the second start in a row. In St. Louis last Friday, he gave up three runs (two earned) in 6 1/3 innings, but he took the loss since Miles Mikolas spun five shutout innings and the Friars got him no run support. The Padres won on Saturday, beating Liberatore after reaching him for six hits and two runs in 4 1/3 innings.

If they can get that much run support for Pivetta on Friday, he should be in a good place to earn the win with how well he has pitched at home. The Padres have won five straight after sweeping the Mets to start the week. The Cardinals have lost four of their last five after dropping two of three at home against Miami.

San Diego traded away prospects to bolster the lineup and the bullpen at the deadline, so Pivetta should have the support he needs to get the win in our starting pitcher prop bets on Friday at these plus odds.

Jack Leiter over 15.5 outs recorded (+120)

The Mariners were one of the most active teams at the trade deadline, significantly upgrading their offense with Josh Naylor and Eugenio Suarez. They beat the Rangers in the first game of this series on Thursday, 6-0.

On Friday, Leiter will be lined up to try and slow them down, and all he has to do is get to 5 1/3 innings to deliver the win for this third of Friday’s starting pitcher prop bets.

Leiter has hit the injured list a few times this year for the Rangers, but the 25-year-old is 7-6 with a 4.09 ERA in his 18 starts. He has averaged 5.1 innings per game on the year but he has recorded at least 16 outs in three straight outings and in nine of his last 14 starts.

In each of his last three starts, Leiter has gone over this outs recorded line while also picking up the win and going 3-0 with a 3.12 ERA and 20 strikeouts in 17 1/3 innings.

He faced the Mariners in late June and went six innings in a no-decision, giving up one run on seven hits with seven strikeouts. While the Mariners’ lineup upgrades since then are significant, Leiter has been strong enough that he should still be able to get to 5 1/3 innings, even if he does give up a few runs. While I do like the moves the Mariners made, the odds on this outs recorded line feel like an overreaction to their upgrades.

After an early exit from Kumar Rocker on Thursday, the Rangers will need Leiter to go as deep as possible, and the young righty has been very solid in his last few outings.
