UPDATE: The game will resume at 5:20 p.m. ET.

Thursday’s Rays-Yankees showdown has been put in a rain delay. The contest was stopped during the bottom of the fifth inning, making it an official game. New York led 7-4, although Tampa Bay had cut the deficit to three in the fourth inning.

The Yankees got out to a massive lead thanks to a pair of moonshots. Giancarlo Stanton got things going with a two-run bomb in the first, his eighth homer in 20 games. The following inning, it was Ben Rice who smacked a three-run dinger to right field. Tampa Bay answered back in the fourth inning, scoring four runs on five hits against New York starter Marcus Stroman. When this contest was halted in the fifth, the Yankees had runners on the corners with just one out.

Three different Rays hitters have left the game due to injury: Chandler Simpson (hand), Yandy Diaz (forearm) and Jonathan Aranda (wrist). If this game resumes, Tampa Bay will have just one player remaining on its bench.

As of Thursday afternoon, there’s no update on when this game will resume. Stay tuned to DK Network for live updates on the rain delay.
