Talk about commitment and trusting the netting. That would have been a rough landing, but he sold out and was rewarded with a highlight-reel play. In a low-scoring tie ball game, every out counts. Naturally, Yaz was due to lead off the next inning. Make a big play, get a big at-bat. He recorded a leadoff bunt single.
Yastrzemski, 34, is one of the better defensive outfielders in the National League. Making plays like this is nothing new for him. Let’s see what else he has in store this year.
