In the sixth inning of Tuesday’s game vs. the Royals, Ronald Acuña Jr. was taken out of the game and went straight down the tunnel with Atlanta’s training staff.
The exact nature of the injury is still to be determined, but it seems as if he might have tweaked something when tracking down a ball into right-center field. Before exiting, he was walked once in two trips to the plate. Hopefully, this is nothing serious for the All-Star, and according to MLB.com’s Mark Bowman, it might be precautionary.
Acuña Jr. is having one of his best seasons with a .309 batting average. His career high is .337 in 2023. With the Braves’ season going the way it has, there’s no need to risk anything with the outfielder. Atlanta will likely already have one eye on 2026.
