MLB Picks Today: Top Player Props and Team Bets for Tuesday, July 29, 2025
Kansas City Royals team total over 4.5 runs (-120) vs. Atlanta Braves
The Braves acquired starter Erick Fedde on Sunday in response to placing Grant Holmes on the injured list. I’m not entirely sure this move will be seen as an upgrade, though. Fedde was designated for assignment after making 20 starts, during which he posted a 5.22 ERA, a 5.80 xERA, and a 5.09 FIP. His strikeout rate has dropped from 7.8 K/9 last season to 5.5 K/9 this year, along with a 4.1 BB/9. Lefties, in particular, have been hitting him hard—he’s allowed a .373 wOBA to left-handed hitters, along with 10 of the 14 home runs he’s surrendered.
Unless the Braves somehow “fixed” Fedde in under 48 hours, it’s hard to imagine him having much success tonight. The Royals aren’t a high-powered offense, but they do have a solid combined wOBA against both the sinker and the cutter—Fedde’s two primary pitches. Kansas City has posted a .379 wOBA against sinkers and a .322 wOBA against cutters. Both pitches have been getting crushed, which has been Fedde’s biggest issue. I’d expect a short outing from him, which gives the Royals a good chance to put up some big offensive numbers.
Seattle Mariners at Athletics – Both teams to score 2+ runs through first five innings +100
With a full-game total of 10.5 runs and the first five innings priced at -195 to the over on 4.5 runs, I feel confident both teams can score at least two runs in the first half of the game.
Let’s start with the Athletics, who’ll be facing Mariners starter Logan Evans. He’s a clear regression candidate, as his 3.64 ERA is paired with a much higher 5.51 xERA. A blow-up start is coming soon, and the Athletics might be the team to deliver it. Evans’ primary pitch is a cutter, and the A’s handle that pitch very well. Tonight’s projected lineup has a combined .356 wOBA and a .180 ISO against cutters. Evans has also struggled more on the road, and this game will be played in one of the league’s most hitter-friendly parks. Through 31.2 road innings this season, he’s allowed a .391 wOBA and holds a 5.11 FIP.
As for the Mariners, they’ll be facing Luis Severino for the third time this season. He was dominant in their first meeting, tossing six shutout innings. However, in the second matchup, the Mariners tagged him for four runs on five hits over six innings. That second outing is more reflective of Severino’s recent form. He’s also been significantly worse at home, where he’s posted a .360 wOBA, a 4.36 FIP, and surrendered eight of the 13 home runs he’s allowed this season.
Christian Yelich over 1.5 H/R/RBI -120 vs. Chicago Cubs
Christian Yelich and the Brewers will take on Colin Rea tonight in Milwaukee. Rea has been inconsistent on the mound, evidenced by his 4.06 ERA and a 4.84 xERA. His biggest issue has been left-handed bats, who have tagged him with a .384 wOBA, a 5.99 FIP and 13 of the 19 home runs he’s allowed. While Yelich isn’t hitting for the power we’ve seen in the past, he’s been great against righties, with a .368 wOBA, a .236 ISO and a 139 wRC+.
