It is a full slate of MLB baseball tonight with all 30 teams in action. Thursday’s trade deadline continues to loom with roster movement beginning around the league as each playoff team attempts to bolster its roster and increase its chances. But the action on the field continues, and there are several notable matchups to keep an eye on. The Toronto Blue Jays will kick off the night in a matchup with the Baltimore Orioles at 6:35 p.m. ET, building up to the final matchup at 10:05 between the Athletics and Seattle Mariners. One of the more unique ways to get in on the action, and one of the newest features on DraftKings this year is Pick6 Fantasy Baseball!
This article will look at my top Pick6 plays for today’s action, 7/28/25. You simply choose whether each set statistic will be more or less than the set number. With the stage set, here are my favorite picks on tonight’s MLB slate.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. More Than 1.5 Total Bases
It has been a bit of a down season for Vladimir Guerrero Jr., but the Blue Jays slugger is beginning to round into form. The five-time All-Star is slashing .292/.396/.459 with 14 home runs and 54 RBIs on the season. He will enter tonight’s matchup riding a nine-game hitting streak. Guerrero Jr. has six multi-hit games and a pair of home runs across this stretch.
This is a favorable matchup for him to continue building with Zach Eflin on the mound for the Orioles. Eflin enters with a 5.78 ERA and he is allowing 10.7 hits and 2.15 home runs per nine innings. Guerrero Jr. has faced Eflin 22 times and has tallied seven hits with two home runs across these opportunities.
A home run feels in play for Guerrero Jr. tonight, but I am being a bit safer and backing the former home run champion to tally more than 1.5 total bases. He has reached this total in five of his past six games. With a favorable pitching matchup and the 26-year-old heating up, look for Guerrero Jr. to extend his hot streak tonight.
Gleyber Torres More Than 0.5 RBIs
Gleyber Torres also enters with a favorable pitching matchup that he has had success against. Eduardo Rodriguez will be on the mound for the Diamondbacks. Rodriguez enters with a career-worst 5.50 ERA and 1.65 WHIP this season. He is allowing 11.7 hits and 1.7 home runs per nine innings, which are also the worst marks of his career. Torres has faced Rodriguez 34 times and tallied nine hits, four home runs and six walks.
Torres earned an All-Star appearance this season for the first time since 2019 and is playing at a high level. He is slashing .276/.378/.415 with 10 home runs and 49 RBIs on the season. The 28-year-old is coming off a two-hit and four-RBI performance yesterday in which he notched his 10th home run. With a pitching matchup in which he has had great success against in mind, look for him to build off this and drive home a run again tonight.
Nick Castellanos More Than 1.5 Hits, Runs & RBIs
The Philadelphia Phillies’ bats have woken up with 24 runs tallied in the previous three-game series with the Yankees. They will now open up a series against the Chicago White Sox with a great chance to pile on. Nick Castellanos has been a big part of this effort and is on a five-game hitting streak. He is slashing .270/.311/.439 on the season with 14 home runs and 57 RBIs. Castellanos has also tallied an RBI in five consecutive games and has eight hits across his past seven games.
Davis Martin will be getting the start for the White Sox this season and he has had some struggles in his third Major League season. Across his first 15 outings, Martin ranks in the eighth percentile in expected ERA, fourth percentile in expected batting average, eighth percentile in strikeout rate, 24th percentile in barrel rate and 13th percentile in hard-hit rate. Martin is posting a 3.89 ERA and 1.24 WHIP, but the underlying metrics suggest this is above what should be expected. In addition, Martin is recording reverse splits and has struggled more against right-handed hitters this season.
With Castellanos and the Phillies already lighting up the box score against tougher pitching, look for this success to carry into tonight. Trea Turner, Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper batting in front of him force pitches his direction, and Castellanos has pulled his weight of late. Look for him to build off his recent hot streak and tally more than 1.5 combined hits, runs and RBIs for the sixth straight game.
Bryce Harper More Than 0.5 RBIs
Bryce Harper will also benefit from the favorable pitching matchup and is playing at an extremely high level. He told reporters that the bothersome wrist issue, which has plagued him for over a year, is as good as it has felt in some time, and the production backs this up. On the season, Harper is slashing .262/.370/.493 with 15 home runs and 43 RBIs.
Over his past 13 games, Harper is slashing .321/.400/.830 with a 1.230 OPS. He has 17 hits and nine RBIs across this stretch while averaging 3.4 total bases per game. Davis Martin has not escaped a start without allowing at least one earned run since April and he has allowed seven earned runs in his past two games pitched. Expect the Phillies’ offense to be ready to put up a few crooked numbers and for Harper to be in the midst of it. Count on the two-time MVP to drive home another run tonight in the process.
Adolis García More Than 0.5 RBIs
Adolis Garcia is heating up after an underwhelming start to the year. On the season overall, he is slashing .231/.278/.397 with 14 home runs and 59 RBIs. Garcia has tallied four home runs over his past 13 games and enters tonight’s matchup on a three-game hitting streak.
Jack Kochanowicz will be on the mound for the Angels and has struggled greatly this year. The 6-foot-7 right-hander is posting a 6.03 ERA and 1.63 WHIP while allowing 10.3 hits per nine innings. Garcia has two home runs in his eight career plate appearances against Kochanowicz already. This is another spot where a home run feels in play, but I am opting for Garcia to tally an RBI to keep his hot streak going.
Brent Rooker More Than 0.5 RBIs
In the final matchup of the night’s slate, look for Brent Rooker to continue his strong stretch of production. The Athletics’ slugger is slashing .272/.348/.494 with 21 home runs and 57 RBIs on the year. Rooker is posting an impressive 14.3% barrel rate and 112.4 maximum exit velocity. He has also performed especially well in the Athletics’ makeshift home stadium, slashing .298/.391/.513 with eight of his home runs coming at Sutter Health Park.
Luis Castillo will be getting the start for the Mariners tonight. The right-hander is having a solid season, posting a 3.30 ERA and 1.24 WHIP across his first 120.0 innings pitched. But Rooker has one home run already against Castillo in his career with a .455 xwOBA. Rooker has five hits across his past five games and will benefit from the friendly home park and pitching matchup. Look for him to continue adding to his production and drive home a run tonight.
