This is the second game of a three-game series in Cleveland between the Guardians and visiting Colorado Rockies.

Tanner Gordon is scheduled to pitch for Colorado while Logan Allen is slated to start for Cleveland.

Rockies at Guardians prediction, preview

Tanner Gordon is a righty who averages 91.8 mph on the fastball. His first MLB innings came last season, and they were horrific. In 34.1 innings, he posted an 8.65 ERA, 16.3% strikeout rate and allowed 10 home runs. He did experience some bad luck, so the FIP was lower, but it was still 6.14. Through 23 innings this season, he’s been much, much better. The ERA is 3.13 and the FIP is 3.87. While the strikeout rate is only 13.7%, he’s only allowed two home runs and walked six. The barrel rate is 6.6% while the hard hit rate is 39.5%.

Gordon has only made four starts this season. He has gone at least six innings in three of them. After giving up four earned runs in his first start of the season, he’s allowed two, two and zero in the last three.

Against right-handed pitching, the Guardians have struck out at the 17th-highest rate while having the 13th-best ISO. The wOBA is 28th-best in MLB.

Logan Allen is sporting a 4.16 ERA, which is supported by the 4.33 FIP. He only averages 91 mph on the fastball and has a strikeout rate of 17.9%. The walk rate is elevated at 9% but he’s only allowed 12 home runs in 101.2 innings. The barrel rate is 9.8%, but the average exit velocity is 88.2 mph while the hard hit rate is 36.2%. The swinging strike rate is only 7.7% and the chase rate is 22.4%, so it’s a good thing he limits hard contact and has a 43.6% groundball rate.

Allen has been split neutral.

In 19 starts, Allen has gone at least six innings seven times, with four of those in the last five outings. He’s allowed more than three earned runs five times. This will be the first time facing Colorado this season.

The Rockies have struck out at the third-highest rate against left-handed pitching while being 16th in ISO. The wOBA is 26th-best.

As for bullpens, Colorado has the 28th-lowest FIP while Cleveland has the ninth-lowest.
