All 30 MLB teams are in action today with a front-loaded slate. There is some added drama with the looming MLB trade deadline as each contender looks to bolster their roster for a playoff push. Keep an eye on any late scratches or surprising rest days with player movement beginning around the league. Nonetheless, the action will be taking place on the diamond with teams almost two-thirds of the way through the season. One of the more unique ways to get in on the action, and one of the newest features on DraftKings this year is Pick6 Fantasy Baseball!
This article will look at my top Pick6 plays for today’s action, 7/27/25. You simply choose whether each set statistic will be more or less than the set number. With the stage set, here are my favorite picks on tonight’s MLB slate.
Shohei Ohtani More Than 0.5 Home Runs
Shohei Ohtani is on a heater even by his sky-high standards. He is up to 38 home runs on the season and has tallied five home runs across the past six games. Ohtani is batting .273 while leading the National League in slugging percentage at .620 and OPS at .997.
He is in a great spot to continue adding to this and will face his former teammate, Walker Buehler, on the mound. The two-time All-Star enters with a 5.72 ERA on the season and has allowed 17 home runs across his first 17 starts. Since June 1st, his ERA has leaped to 7.28, and he has given up nine home runs in eight starts.
Ohtani is hitting right-handed pitching well this season with a 1.042 OPS and 30 of his 38 home runs coming against righties. Ohtani has faced him just twice since he left Los Angeles, but he enters on a seven-game hitting streak. It took him just three pitches before putting one over the fence last night, and this is a more favorable matchup. Look for Ohtani to continue his chase for another NL MVP and add to his home run total today.
Trevor Larnach More Than 0.5 Home Runs
Jake Irvin will be on the mound today for the Nationals as they face off against the Twins. Irvin enters with a 4.81 ERA across his first 21 starts and has especially struggled against left-handed hitters. He is giving up 1.82 home runs per nine innings against left-handed hitters and is allowing a 47.1% hard hit rate and 12.5% barrel rate overall. Each ranks among the three worst across pitchers on today’s slate.
Trevor Larnach enters with 13 home runs on the year and is slashing .241/.312/.403. He is posting a 44% hard-hit rate and has hit better against right-handed pitchers this season. 12 of his 13 home runs have come against right-handed pitching, with his slugging percentage and OPS going from .265 and .484 against lefties to .437 and .770 against right-handers.
This is a spot where lefties should have a field day against Irvin and look for Larnach to be a part of this. This is a great chance to add to his season totals, and I like the 28-year-old to add to his home run total tonight.
Agustin Ramirez More Than 0.5 Runs Batted In
Bradon Woodruff missed the entire 2024 MLB season due to shoulder surgery and has made just three starts on the year. While he is posting a 1.65 ERA, Woodruff has allowed three home runs and is allowing a 14.3% barrel rate and 45.7% hard hit rate. It is still early in his return, but the opponent’s exit velocity of 91 mph is also uncharacteristic for the two-time All-Star.
Agustin Ramirez enters with slash lines of .244/.288/.465 on the season. He has 15 home runs and 46 RBIs with 10 of the home runs coming against right-handed pitching. He is also posting a .464 slugging and .219 ISO this season against right-handed pitching. Ramirez hits sweepers extremely well, and this is a pitch Woodruff relies on. Two of the three home runs allowed have been on this pitch, while four of Ramirez’s home runs sent out came in as sweepers. The Marlins are coming off back-to-back wins, including Ramirez having hit a home run last night.
While another home run is absolutely in play, I am taking Ramirez to record an RBI. He has two RBIs in his last three games and six in his last nine games. Count on Ramirez to capitalize on an intriguing matchup and drive home a runner again today.
Kyle Hendricks More Than 4.5 Hits Against
Kyle Hendricks is set to make his 20th start of the season and enters with a 5-7 record, a 4.92 ERA, and a 1.29 WHIP. He is also giving up 2.2 walks per nine innings and striking out six hitters per nine innings across his first 100.2 innings pitched. Seattle enters with a respectable offense that ranks 13th in the MLB in hits, 11th in runs, fifth in home runs, and seventh in total bases.
Hendricks has made two starts in his career against the Marniers, allowing 11 hits and five earned runs across 12 innings pitched. He was also chased from his previous start in under five innings while giving up three earned runs and more than 4.5 hits. Hendricks has allowed more than 4.5 hits in 11 of his last 13 starts. Look for this unfortunate trend to continue against a Mariners team that has tallied 24 hits through the first three games of this series. Hendricks has not performed as expected of late, and this is not a matchup that I see this changing.
Pete Alonso More Than 0.5 RBIs
In the lone late game tonight, the New York Mets will take on the San Francisco Giants. Matt Gage will be on the mound for San Francisco and making his first start of the season for the Giants, with just three appearances under his belt. He has yet to allow a run in his four innings pitched, but it is a different ball game when getting the start. San Francisco’s bullpen has been strong overall this season, posting the second-best bullpen ERA, but they will need to go deep in their list of arms if Gage cannot extend several innings into the game.
While Juan Soto and Francisco Lindor may steal the spotlight, Pete Alonso should be right at the top of the list of concerns for the Giants’ pitching staff. He ranks fifth in the MLB in RBIs and has added 22 home runs on the season. Alonso is slashing .269/.361/.510 with an .871 OPS on the year. Alonso has tallied an RBI in two of the past three games, with four RBIs total in this stretch. Look for the Mets’ offense to have some success today and for Alonso to be a key part of the production. New York has plenty of lineup protection to force Alonso to see pitches and count on the first baseman to continue pulling his weight at the plate.
Heliot Ramos More Than 0.5 Hits
Heliot Ramos leads the Giants with a .270 batting average and has the most hits on the team with 107. He has tallied a hit in 11 of his last 15 games and has three hits across the first two games of this series. It will not be an easy matchup with Kodai Senga on the mound, but the Mets starter has struggled to pitch deep into games so far this season. Senga enters with a 1.79 ERA with 79 strikeouts across his first 80.2 innings pitched. But he is coming off his worst start of the season with four earned runs allowed in just 3.0 innings pitched.
Ramos hits the ball well against both left and right-handed pitchers but has slightly better numbers against righties. He is posting a .276 batting average with a .430 slugging and .775 OPS when facing right-handed pitchers compared to .250/.423/.751 against lefties. Look for Ramos to maintain his hot streak at the plate and notch a fourth hit of this series against the Mets tonight. He has been a major bright spot for this Giants team and is seeing the ball well at the plate. Look for Ramos to tally another hit tonight and extend his strong stretch of play.
