With the entire MLB in action on Saturday, fans have a ton of options for weekend betting cards and entertaining matchups to check in on throughout the evening. The Miami Marlins escaped with an upset victory on the road over a surging Milwaukee Brewers squad last night, but can they make magic happen again in game two of this series?
Here’s a Brewers vs. Marlins prediction and pick on DraftKings Sportsbook for Saturday’s action.
Brewers vs. Marlins prediction, preview
The Brewers started the year slow over the first months of the season but have burst into the contender race with a push to 61-42 with a 30-14 record since June 1. They currently boast the MLB’s second-best winning percentage behind only the Toronto Blue Jays, so these Brewers look like they’re for real. They swept the Los Angeles Dodgers coming out of the All-Star break and are 5-2 since the season picked back up, so they look to recapture their momentum here.
The Marlins aren’t a team to rule out, though. As unlikely as it seems, Miami has actually emerged as a winning team over the last couple of months at 26-20 since June 1, the sixth-best among all teams in that span. They’re still 49-53 overall on the campaign, but they’re not bowing down to any other franchise and may have finally found some building blocks for the future — assuming they don’t ship out too much talent at the trade deadline as usual.
Miami bats .248 with a .730 OPS since the All-Star break and the offense has looked quite potent at times over the last month or so while they’re ninth in runs scored over the last 15 days. Meanwhile, Milwaukee bats are seventh in scoring over the same span with a .269 average and .697 OPS since the All-Star Game. These teams can both put up runs in a hurry.
With that said, these pitchers look relatively similar as far as the basic numbers go. The Brewers start lefty Jose Quintana (3.49 ERA, 1.31 WHIP, 53 SO) against Marlins righty Janson Junk (3.09 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, 39 SO). The latter does enter the matchup in better form with a 2.82 ERA and low 0.94 WHIP over his last seven appearances compared to an elevated 4.28 ERA and four more walks for Milwaukee’s veteran over an identical sample of 38 1/3 innings.

DraftKings Sportsbook lists the Brewers as a -164 favorite on the Moneyline at home while the Marlins come in as +134 underdogs to win outright. The run total sits at 8.5 for this outing..
We’re targeting a pitcher prop bet in this one. As mentioned above, Janson Junk has been dealing lately with some really nice numbers over his last seven outings and he seems to be hitting his stride at the right time in this Marlins rotation. His betting lines haven’t really caught up to that yet though, especially the market for outs recorded.
Over his last five games, Junk went over tonight’s 15.5 outs line three times. Bettors can snag +110 value on the over tonight. While there’s a little bit of risk involved with a talented Brewers batting order, I feel pretty confident the 29-year-old pitcher can put forth a quality outing to go over that low line.
