Thursday morning, WWE Hall-of-Famer Hulk Hogan passed away at 71 years old after suffering cardiac arrest. Hogan is one of the greatest and most influential wrestlers of all time. Throughout his illustrious career, he was a six-time WWE Champion, a two-time Royal Rumble winner, and main-evented WrestleMania eight times.
Here are a few of the most significant moments in Hogan’s legendary career.
1. Hulk Hogan slams Andre the Giant at WrestleMania 3
The most significant moment of Hogan’s career was when he slammed Andre the Giant in the Main Event of WrestleMania 3. This moment will forever be remembered as one of the most iconic in history. Up until that point, Andre was invincible in WWE, and no one had ever accomplished that feat before.
2. Turning heel and joining the NWO
This is a close second, but can be argued to be the most impactful. Hogan preached positively to the fans and was the ultimate good guy for the majority of his original run. But after a brief stint in WCW, Hogan delivered the most shocking heel turn in the history of professional wrestling when he joined Scott Hall and Kevin Nash at Bash at the Beach in 1996. This marked the beginning of the nWo, widely regarded as the best faction of all time.
3. Icon vs. Icon at WrestleMania 18
The third most significant moment was when he faced off against another Mount Rushmore-level wrestler, The Rock, at WrestleMania 18. This was an unforeseen dream match, whether it would happen. The two biggest superstars from their generations faced off in front of 67,000 crazy fans in the Skydome.
