We head to TPC Twin Cities (par 71, 7,431 yards, bentgrass greens) in Blaine, Minnesota, for the 3M Open. TPC Twin Cities has hosted all six editions of the 3M Open and there will be a top-65 and ties cut for this 156-player field following the first two rounds.

Top 3M Open Matchup Picks
Taylor Pendrith over Max Greyserman (-105)
While Greyserman finished runner-up at last year’s 3M Open, Pendrith wasn’t far behind, finishing T-5, and this time around, Pendrith is in better form than Greyserman. While both these players are coming off missed cuts at the Open Championship, both Pendrith and Greyserman competed at the Genesis Scottish Open the previous week and Pendrith had a strong performance, finishing T-13, whereas Greyserman missed the cut.
Pendrith and Greyserman have had very comparable seasons, with eight and nine top-25 finishes, respectively, but when we compare this field’s last 24 rounds, Pendrith ranks seventh in total strokes gained, while Greyserman ranks 12th. Plus, these players are teeing it up at TPC Twin Cities this week and Pendrith has been far more productive at TPC courses this season, gaining 0.73 strokes per round, compared to Greyserman, who is losing 0.86 strokes per round at this type of venue.
While both Pendrith and Greyserman have great upside in this weak field, backing Pendrith to win this matchup makes sense at this reasonable -105 price.
Sam Stevens over Vince Whaley (-110)
Stevens has been rock solid at TPC Twin Cities, finishing T-10 and T-64 in his two starts at the par 71. The 29-year-old has shot under par in six of these eight rounds and he is gaining 0.9 strokes per round at TPC Twin Cities. Conversely, Whaley has missed the cut in both of his starts at the track and he has shot under par in only one of these four rounds. Whaley is losing 1.99 strokes per round at TPC Twin Cities, which is the fourth-worst average among the players in this field that have competed at the track more than once.
In addition to massive advantage in course history, Stevens is having a better season than Whaley. Stevens has been one of the most consistent players on the PGA TOUR, making the cut in 19 of his 22 solo starts with seven top-25 finishes, while Whaley has made 14-of-20 solo cuts with six top-25 finishes.
All signs point to Stevens outperforming Whaley at TPC Twin Cities this week and Stevens is the clear choice for this matchup.
