UPDATE: Reese has been ruled out Thursday vs. the Storm.
It’s been a tough season for the Chicago Sky. They went into the All-Star break at 7-15 and were spanked by the Minnesota Lynx 91-68 in the first game of the campaign’s second half.
Now the situation becomes more dire as Angel Reese has popped up on the injury report ahead of Thursday’s game against the Seattle Storm.
Chicago is already missing Courtney Vandersloot for the whole season after her ACL tear. Rotation piece Michaela Onyenwere is out. Ariel Atkins and her extremely valuable perimeter defense will be missing. Now Angel Reese, their best player by a mile, is questionable to play with a back issue.
Perhaps this injury arose from her putting the team on her shoulders. Reese has recorded 10 straight double-doubles and made her second All-Star appearance in two years. Over that stretch, she’s averaging 17.4 points, 14.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game. That comes with 1.2 steals and 0.7 blocks as well.
Wednesday’s game against the Storm would be a tough one with Reese. Without her, Chicago finds themselves in major trouble. Seattle is a -8.5 road favorite on DraftKings Sportsbook. That line will go through the roof if Angel Reese’s injury proves more troublesome than expected and the star misses time.
