SP Kodai Senga, NY Mets vs. LA Angels; $9,300
The Mets’ Kodai Senga won’t provide a ton of salary savings since he’s third on the salary sheet today, but he’s a candidate to build lineups around in a positive matchup. The right-hander averages 19.5 FPPG, more than nearly anyone else on the slate, and he’s done a great job of limiting earned runs this season.
Senga just returned from a month-long injury absence on July 11 and went four scoreless innings with four hits allowed, four strikeouts and two walks. Now 10 days removed from that outing, he should feel a little healthier and be ready to go deeper into tonight’s game. With a 1.51 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 74 strikeouts in 77.2 innings overall, Senga’s numbers certainly qualify him as one of the best arms in the game. He should put up a nice stat line tonight against an Angels lineup that ranks 24th in batting average and strikes out at the second-highest rate.
OF Juan Soto, NY Mets vs. LA Angels; $5,800
We’re taking another Met as our top hitter tonight as they face off against lefty Tyler Anderson, whose ERA sits at 4.34 with a 1.41 WHIP on the year. What Metropolitan finds their way into the lineup here?
Juan Soto had a pretty horrible first couple months to start his 2025 campaign but came around with a scorching-hot June. While he’s cooled off a little bit in July, his numbers still look quite solid with 9.6 FPPG and he has the chance to recapture his previous form tonight with a good matchup. Soto slashes .256/.391/.504 this year with a near-.900 OPS, 72 runs, 57 RBI and 24 homers. He’s a star and sees one of the best pitching matchups among players with high salaries tonight, so Soto feels like an intriguing option if we plan to skip out on an Aaron Judge or Cal Raleigh.
SS Geraldo Perdomo, ARI Diamondbacks vs. Houston Astros; $4,300
This Diamondback probably needs some more love given his numbers this season. Somehow, Geraldo Perdomo’s play has flown under the radar out in the desert.
The shortstop slashes .272/.373/.420 this year and leads the Diamondbacks in hits and walks. He doesn’t hit a ton of homers like other batters in their lineup but Perdomo makes up for it with 55 runs and 72 RBI thus far. He’s been hot over his last three games since the All-Star break with 15, 24 and 12 fantasy points. The most important number is that Perdomo slashes .314/.390/.410 against lefties — he faces a struggling one tonight against the Astros’ Colton Gordon (4.67 ERA, 1.42 WHIP). Chase the matchup here and slot Perdomo into lineups with glee.
