This is the final game of a three-game series in Atlanta between the Braves and visiting Yankees.

Grant Holmes is scheduled to pitch for Atlanta while Marcus Stroman will toe the rubber for New York.

Braves vs. Yankees prediction, preview

The Yankees are in a serious slump, dropping 19 of their last 31 games. Their offense has cooled significantly, and apart from Carlos Rodón and Max Fried, the pitching staff has seen its performance regress to the mean amid injuries and inconsistency.

Sunday looks bleak for New York as Marcus Stroman takes the mound in the series finale at Atlanta. He’s had a tough season—slashing to a 6.66 ERA and 1.64 WHIP over 24.1 innings in six starts, surrendering 28 hits and issuing 12 walks while collecting just 15 strikeouts. On the other side, Atlanta will counter with Grant Holmes, who’s shown steadier form this year—posting a 3.77 ERA and 1.30 WHIP over 105 innings, with 119 strikeouts.

The Braves finally returned to full strength offensively with Jurickson Profar back from his PED suspension—only for Austin Riley to go down with an injury just before the break. He has yet to appear in this series. It’s been a bit of a Murphy’s Law season for Atlanta, who now sits at 43–53 and finds itself on the outside looking in when it comes to the NL Wild Card race.

As for New York, the offense has cooled off outside of Aaron Judge and Cody Bellinger, ranking just 12th in MLB in runs scored over the past 10 games.

Braves vs. Yankees Best Bet

Whenever Marcus Stroman takes the mound, there’s always the potential for fireworks. He’s no longer the strikeout pitcher he once was, and his inability to consistently miss bats continues to leave him vulnerable. While Grant Holmes has been serviceable, both of these offenses are capable of doing damage—especially in the heat of a summer Sunday in Atlanta. Expect plenty of run-scoring opportunities.

Give me the over here.

Best Bet: Over 9.5 Runs (-116)
