MLB Picks: Player Props and Team Props for Friday, July 18, 2025
Gleyber Torres 2+ total bases vs. Texas Rangers
Torres is enjoying a solid resurgence at the plate in his first year with the Tigers. Through 84 games, he’s posted a .360 wOBA and a .144 ISO. Much of his success—particularly his power—has come against left-handed pitching. Entering this game, he owns a .411 wOBA and a .243 ISO versus lefties.
He’ll be facing Patrick Corbin, who has started to regress after a strong start to his Rangers tenure. Since the beginning of June, Corbin has posted a 4.73 ERA, allowing 21 runs on 47 hits over seven starts.
Given Torres is one of the Tigers’ best hitters against lefties and is batting near the top of the order, I like his chances to record at least two total bases in this matchup.
Nick Lodolo over 5.5 strikeouts +115
Lodolo is priced at plus money to go over his strikeout prop tonight against the Mets. I think this matchup offers more value than the odds suggest—especially when you consider the strikeout rates of the Mets’ projected lineup. Five of the expected hitters have a strikeout rate of at least 25% against left-handed pitching this season. If the lineup shakes out as expected, three of those high-strikeout hitters will be in the bottom third of the order.
Lodolo has recorded six or more strikeouts in eight of his 19 starts—just under half—making this a spot worth targeting.
St. Louis Cardinals at Arizona Diamondbacks both teams score 2+ runs through first five innings +140
I believe we’ll see plenty of early offense tonight between the Cardinals and Diamondbacks in Arizona. The pitching matchup features Andre Pallante for the Cardinals and Brandon Pfaadt for the D-backs.
Pallante is a contact-oriented pitcher with significant inconsistency, posting an ERA above 4.00 in every month this season. He’s struggled especially against right-handed hitters, allowing a .350 wOBA, a 5.12 FIP, and eight of the 14 home runs he’s surrendered. The D-backs excel against the fastball—Pallante’s primary pitch—with their projected lineup boasting a combined .380 wOBA and .296 ISO against it.
Pfaadt, meanwhile, has been even shakier than his surface numbers suggest. His 5.16 ERA is paired with an xERA of 6.20, and he’s on pace to set a new career high in home runs allowed (currently at 24). Through 99.1 innings, he’s allowed 17 homers—10 of them to left-handed hitters—and is giving up 1.5 HR/9. Like Arizona, the Cardinals are strong against the four-seam fastball, which Pfaadt throws 33% of the time. Their expected lineup owns a .359 wOBA and a .182 ISO against that pitch.
