There are only two games of WNBA action on the Tuesday, July 15 slate.
At 8 p.m. EST, the Connecticut Sun host Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever in the early game. A couple of hours later at 10 p.m. EST, Brittney Sykes and the Washington Mystics battle Kelsey Plum and the Los Angeles Sparks out on the West Coast.
Ahead of the two matchups, here are my favorite WNBA bets on DraftKings Sportsbook.
IND Fever -15.5 (-112)
The early game on today’s slate doesn’t look like a competitive affair to say the least. The Indiana Fever are 11-10 on the season, which doesn’t feel that impressive in itself, but they’ve won their last two games and seem back on the right foot with Caitlin Clark healthy again. The same cannot be said for the Connecticut Sun with their WNBA-worst 3-18 record. This spread feels massive, but it makes some sense when you consider the Sun have a league-low -15.6 plus-minus and -20.1 NETRTG. They score the fewest points per game at 72.5 while the Fever rank third at 84.5. Clark and Co. should get the better of a poor defense to cash this line.
WAS Mystics ML (-102)
The late matchup appears far more interesting for fans who want to watch competitive hoops. The 11-10 Washington Mystics face the 7-14 L.A. Sparks, a team with the WNBA’s worst home record at just 2-8 at their own place. The Sparks are a one-point favorite at -118 on the Moneyline compared to -102 for the Mystics, so the odds imply something of a toss-up tonight. While Kelsey Plum can score with the league’s best alongside Dearica Hamby and Azura Stevens, this team cannot play defense to save their lives. Los Angeles allows the second-most opponent points per game with the second-worst DEFRTG, far behind Washington at fifth in the latter stat. The Mystics’ offense isn’t quite as good as their opponents’, but I’m banking on Brittney Sykes and the pair of rookie All-Stars Sonia Citron and Kiki Iriafen to get the looks they want against a poor defense.
