Last night, the Original Tribal Chief, Roman Reigns, made his long-awaited return on Monday Night Raw. Reigns came to the aid of his cousin, Jey Uso, and CM Punk to even the score against Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed. This was Reigns’ first appearance in WWE since April 21.
With Reigns back in the fold, let’s look at his potential opponents for SummerSlam at MetLife Stadium on August 2 and 3.
Matchups at SummerSlam for Roman Reigns
Roman Reigns vs. Bron Breakker
There are two legit options for Reigns at SummerSlam, with a matchup of spear vs. spear being an intriguing one. Reigns, the biggest star, vs. Breakker, the fastest rising star, would be an incredible showdown at the biggest event of the summer.
This has the potential to be a high-level, hard-hitting match with high-level athleticism. Reigns’ former Wiseman has continued to praise Breakker and sees him as the next big thing and the future of the industry.
Roman Reigns & Jey Uso vs. Bron Breakker & Bronson Reed
This matchup could make the most sense after Monday’s Raw. That is because Reigns and Uso were standing tall, with both Breakker and Reed retreating. Two of WWE’s most popular stars against Heyman’s new powerful stable would be a great tag team contest.
Reigns is seeking revenge on the people who took him out after WrestleMania, specifically Breakker and Reed. A Reigns vs. Seth Rollins one-on-one match seems likely in the future, but having the OTC get past Rollins’ muscle first would be great.
