We’ve reached the fourth and final major of the season, as Royal Portrush Golf Club in Portrush, County Antrim, Northern Ireland, plays host to the 153rd Open Championship. The course will play as a 7,381-yard par 71 with fescue greens, providing a true links-style challenge.
The Open is a full-field, 156-player event with a 36-hole cut. As expected, the field is stacked, as 49 of the top 50 players in the world are set to tee it up. One of the biggest storylines this week is whether Rory McIlroy can capture The Open on home soil. Fellow Irishman Shane Lowry famously won here the last time Portrush hosted in 2019.
World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler will be seeking his first Open Championship title. A win this week would put him three-quarters of the way to a career Grand Slam. Defending champion Xander Schauffele is also in the field, aiming to become just the fourth player in history—joining Tom Watson, Lee Trevino, and Tiger Woods—to win back-to-back Opens.
With all that in mind, let’s get to what everyone’s really here for this week—the DraftKings picks.
Below, I have outlined three of my favorite on the week.

Jon Rahm ($10,400)
Rahm continued his stellar season on the LIV Golf Tour last week with a T2 finish at Valderrama, highlighted by a bogey-free final-round 65. It marked his ninth top-10 in 10 starts this year on LIV. While his first win of the season still eludes him, his remarkable consistency has been undeniable. He’s also delivered strong performances in this year’s three majors, finishing T15 or better in all of them—including a T8 at the PGA Championship and a T7 at the U.S. Open.
Rahm will be making his ninth career Open Championship start this week, and he’s truly established himself as a master of links golf. He’s posted four top-11 finishes across his past five Open appearances, including three top-sevens. One of those came right here at Royal Portrush, where he finished T11 in 2019. In addition, Rahm has always felt at home in Ireland, having won the Irish Open in both 2017 and 2019.
The Spaniard is one of the longest and most accurate drivers in the game right now—an invaluable asset this week at Portrush, where narrow fairways and thick rough demand precision off the tee. Given Rahm’s recent form and proven links pedigree, it’s hard to imagine him not being a major factor late on Sunday in this tournament.
To top it off, he’s priced $1,100 less than Rory McIlroy and a whopping $3,800 cheaper than Scottie Scheffler—making him even more appealing.
Viktor Hovland ($8,300)
Hovland enters play this week in great form—and at just $8,300 on DraftKings, he’s one of the most underpriced players on the slate. He finished T11 at the Genesis Scottish Open last week, gaining a field-best 7.3 strokes on approach. This on the heels of gaining 6.3 strokes with his irons at the U.S. Open and 8.3 more at the Travelers across his previous two starts.
Over his past 24 rounds in this field, the Norwegian ranks second behind only Scottie Scheffler in SG: Approach, while sitting sixth in SG: Tee-to-Green in the same time frame. He’s locked in right now.
In addition, Hovland has always fared well at The Open, having posted three top-13 finishes over his past four trips, including a T4 in 2022. There are very few true threats to win this week sitting in the $8k range, and Hovland is chief among them.
Ryan Fox ($7,100)
Fox is having an outstanding 2025 season, already notching two victories—at the Myrtle Beach Classic and the RBC Canadian Open—along with several other top-20 finishes in his 16 starts. While he struggled on the greens last week in Scotland, losing four strokes putting and finishing a disappointing T65, his iron play remained sharp. He gained 2.3 strokes on approach for the week, continuing his red-hot form with the irons.
Overall, the New Zealander ranks eighth in this field in SG: Approach over his past 24 rounds, while sitting 13th in Total Strokes Gained in that span.
Fox cut his teeth on the DP World Tour, so links-style setups don’t faze him in the slightest. In fact, this will be his ninth career Open Championship start—having made the cut in six of his first eight, including two top-25 finishes. Ironically, his best result at The Open (T16) came right here at Royal Portrush in 2019, suggesting the stars may be aligning once again for the Kiwi.
Fox’s recent form and rolling numbers look way too good to not consider him at this $7,100 price tag.
