Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese has become one of the most polarizing players in the WNBA, but she’s making a statement with her play as of late. Unfortunately, the young star will miss at least a brief bit of time due to injury.
Now, Reese has been ruled out for the Tuesday’s contest against the Atlanta Dream due to a leg injury.
The LSU product popped up on the injury report after playing 37 minutes in Monday’s loss to the Minnesota Lynx. In that contest, Reese posted a 22-point, 10-rebound double-double while shooting 9-for-14 from the field.
Despite some of the narratives surrounding the 23-year-old, Reese is enjoying the best stretch of her young career thus far at the moment. Over her last eight games, Reese averages 19.1 points, 14.4 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game while shooting an efficient 52.7% from the field and 80.0% from the free-throw line. Whether it’s a hot stretch or a genuine sign she’s turned the corner remains uncertain, but the former first-round pick is clearly playing great basketball as of late.
Unfortunately for the Sky, the team sits just 7-14 on the campaign at 10th place league-wide. The team’s rebuild is just beginning, but it does seem that Reese may be playing herself into a cornerstone role for the future, especially if she keeps this up.
