The final major of 2025 has arrived, as the best players in the world will head to Northern Ireland for the 2025 Open Championship.
Scottie Scheffler has already picked up one major this year and will be looking for his second of the season at Royal Portrush. If he were to get the job done this week, it would mean that he’s just a U.S. Open away from a career Grand Slam.
DraftKings Sportsbook has plenty of betting options for the world #1 this week, and below is my favorite bet for Scheffler at The Open Championship.
Scottie Scheffler Group A Winner (+150)
This bet can be found under the “Tournament Groups” tab. To win, Scheffler just needs to finish higher on the leaderboard than Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm, Bryson DeChambeau and Xander Schauffele.
To beat out four of the best players on the planet is a tall task, but I would rather take Scheffler to win this group versus his odds to win (+450) or a top 5 finish (-105) against a huge field. If the rest of the golfers in this group struggle, it could be a much easier path to victory for Scottie.
Relying on the others not to play well is unrealistic, as Scheffler turns up at every tournament he plays in these days. He has now finished inside the top 10 of the leaderboard in ten straight tournaments, including three wins. When he shows up, he competes at the top of the leaderboard all week long. I don’t expect anything different this week, and hopefully, another top 10 finish at the minimum will secure him as the victor in this group.
This will be his first time playing at Royal Portrush in a professional tournament. He has been improving at links golf in general, however, as a T8 finish last week at the Scottish Open and a T7 at last year’s Open Championship would indicate. As long as they are playing golf, it doesn’t matter what the context is. Scheffler comes to compete every single week and is the most consistent player on the planet right now. Anything outside of a top 10 finish this week would be a surprise.
